will oven cleaner affect the plastics?

i used a toothbrush to clean off my parts when i did it and no damage to the toothbrush..so i would think u will be ok as long as u clean it off good right away

just be careful when using this stuff - i believe many of them have toxic fumes themself - not to mention what it gives off during the process

You can use Castrol Super Clean or Purple Power to remove anodizing as well. Leaves a cleaner finish than Oven Cleaner.

It will not harm plastic as far as I am concerned. I have stripped chrome off of plastic parts many times with no bad results ever.

No - it will not harm most plastics. In fact, the main ingredient is Sodium Hydroxide which frequently comes in some type of plastic container. If your itchy when using you are on your way to burning - wear your safety glasses
