I'm a little bit late to this party but,

Novak Timbuk2 Wraith edition esc and brushless motor
Stock pinion (I think I could go to a higher tooth count easily)
5000mah 2s battery

I dunno how it compares to other out there, it doesn't have a ton of top speed but it is smooth as butter on the rocks. I've had it about 2 years now with no issues at all.

Me too, the only issue I have is the drag brake can't be turned down too much before the ESC starts to do weird things.

A very nice set up
Lots of power and good speed
Tekin RX8
Tekin ROC 412 3100
5000 2s 40c this system can operate on 3s but it is just way too much, there is no need for it.

I just like to know from the 'CRAWLER/TRUCK' GURUS among us if I'm correct in my assumptions about having to change this power system to keep from destroying my newest acquisition?.........

I've recently optained (but have yet to take physical possession of) a pre-owned Axial Wraith that's been outfitted with all sorts of 'BLING'.

I don't believe that the previous owner had ever run it, or if he did, it wasn't run for very long.
My understand is that it was 'custom' built for someone else who never took possession it, and it's basically been a 'SHELF QUEEN' ever since.

Now here's my concern; It's got a CC Mamba Max ESC & 4600KV BL motor running with a 3SLiPo.
That seems like a lot of motor (high Kv) for this application.

Now, from what I understand, this particular set-up isn't compatible with this type of vehicle, and the use of such a power set-up would not only perform poorly, but would also damage the drive components as well.

That's not a very happy scenario.

So, I'm figuring that I'll need to replace this existing ESC and motor combo with a system that's more compatible for this application before operating this rig.

Even though I've been flying EP RC aircraft for almost 10 years, this ground-pounder thing is new to me.
