Just as the title says, I’m putting together my shopping list for a vs4-10 chassis kit with vfd and trx4 portals. What links should I use? Incision scx10.2 links? It will be a 12.3 wheelbase.
Vanquish offers a TRX4 axle specific drag link and panhard for the VS4-10. In the description they recommended the Incision 10.2 link set for the conversion.
The Vanquish link kit is made to work with a 3 gear transmission. You're going to find there are clearance issues with the VFD transmission because the TRX axles pumpkin is offset toward the axle center about 5mm more than the Vanquish and Axial offset pumpkin axles.
Ive got that very setup with no issues. It performs really good. Although i did steal the vfd for a v1c1 build n im lookin at snaggin the links as well.
Definantly get the VP trx4 drag link/panhard link set. Josh from harley designs done this same setup n used the scx10.2 links with no issues.
Thanks for the replies guys. I did peruse boldfins build and came away from it with the impression that the extended shock towers were not jiving with the vfd. I did find this thread, http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vanq...sful-vfd-trans-use-trx-axles-vs410-frame.html and messaged the author in regards to the specifics of what links they used but no reply. They might not even be on here anymore.
I’ll go with the trx4 panhard option from Vp with the 10.2 links and some junfac driveshafts for the sake of clearance. Now if my local hobby store here in Canada could get a vs4-10 chassis kit in stock I’ll be in motion.
That build was one of my first attempts at using axles from another rig, and I was a definite noob at the time. (still am...) In retrospect, I do think the extended hock towers were certainly an issue. There are several things you can do to make TRX axles work with the VFD trans. (Spacing over your front upper link, and/or putting a bend in the front upper link, using narrow-diameter driveshafts, trimming the VFD skid.) Lots of people have done it successfully.
Does anyone have pictures of spacing over the front link? Vanquish says to use their incision 10.2 links but for the sake of curiosity, would any 10.2 links works?
