That's because it is specifically for the 1/16 slash, which has an esc that is only 2s capable. it has nothing to do with the brushed motor.

My LHS is all about traxxas. I understand why though.. by far traxxas is the leader in rtr vehicles and advertising to the non rc crowd

I would suggest they go look up basic electronics....the motor won't magically ask for more power because of a higher C rating...

Hopefully the idiots at this shop are not carrying my products.

Trust me, I didn't ask for anything...just was picking up my Titan 550. He was about 20 and after working in RC clearly should have known better. I simply said I was looking forward to trying it out on 3S and he made a face and naturally he engaged me with his advice.

I have found that there is no such thing as a crawler LHS.
Most have 1 or 2 Axial's RTR'S on the shelf for way high prices, and usually dusty.

The Dunning Kruger effect is when someone believes they are more capable and knowledgeable than they really are.

Which always provides a good time when innocently asking them why they believe it so etc. I know the young guy fundamentally meant well but what a serious load of crap he was spouting. He was very confident and forthright about it too and almost seemed to be pittying me for my misinformed knowledge. Ha! I was something distasteful and he wasn't going to be happy if I returned with a burned up Titan. Lol. He was not enjoying our short conversation.

I did say something like, that's very interesting, I'll definitely be looking it up online.

Surprisingly they stock a lot of Axial stuff and they have a crawler guy that whilst he does fit the profile earlier in the thread is actually a pretty nice bloke and is happy to share knowledge.

I figure if it's some harmless entertainment for me it's ok but I do feel for others. At least he's erring on the side of caution.

I had it explained to me that its perfectly ok to charge a lipo using a Nimh charger before by a shop assistant that supplied me the incorrect charger and even made up leads for me to connect it to my new lipo. When I realized and took it back to be changed he did swap it over but not before explaining that it would have been fine to use it.

It certainly pays to read up and have your own knowledge. Rc was relatively harmless 25 years ago but these days particularly with batteries you really can get into trouble if you treat it like a toy and don't take care. I hate to think what could happen if I was a young kid and just plugged it in

Hard to find, made long before LIPO but they can charge at a higher rate, so the racers want them. All the charger needs is the ability to set a voltage cutoff, which some do for it to work with lipo. Of course, I would never recommend a store sell a NIMH charger for a LIPO, but some do work.

Not this one, this specifically stated do not use with lipo, there was no adjustment on it. It was a simple mistake as there is a lipo version of it, it was just his comments when I pointed out the mistake that got me

Minimum wage, minimum qualifications. Technically much of RC doesn't need high-C batteries. A 540 won't pull more than 30-40A, so a 15c 3000mAh should be fine if not over-rated. However higher C usually means lower internal resistance, meaning less heat & potentially longer life. Ironically it also could mean more profit for the LHS...
