Volksrod Pickup

Started to rough out the interior-chopped the windshield down as well.

rag top time! Got a basic frame made-used an old t shirt to check the profile as I went. In the end, will use some stretch fabric.

Not to be too much of a Volksweenie here, but I'm pretty sure the 1:1's wheelwells are open from the slots forward ;-)

Nothing wrong with being a weenie but help me out here-Not sure what you mean. I used some 1:1 reference and took into account that the SRB front end is not really scale-is it the fact that I have slots for the tie rods vs just end the wheel wells before the tie rods?

Yeah, you can see it best in the pic of the red one. Cut off the flap in front of the slot, to extend the slot forward. Not a big deal, but it never hurts to be accurate "thumbsup"

Ok-I see what your saying-thanks-my problem is that the trailing arms are so long and tall that they kick the tie rod up and back quite a bit more than what would be scale. I think I would be left a big opening if I remove material forward of the tie rods. Certainly something to think about though. Thanks.

small update-finally figured out a way to secure the bed to the cab and make it removable for finishing work. Also made a transition piece between the cab and bed to better integrate the two.

It looks so real in the last two picutures it unreal. Good job dude

Since the pickup bed is open, I wanted to detail the Tamiya gearbox to look more like a flat 4 vs 540. Went at it last night and part of today. I know the stacks might be a little over the top but in the end I think they'll work. Need to finish the exhaust otherwise the neighbors will complain.

Next is the interior-then blast the chassis-....
