Ok so i am getting a velineon system. I have a tiny 12-13 tooth pinion 48pitch and an 87tooth and a 90 tooth spurs. Will either combo cause it to run hot? And if i get the esc fan will i mess it up if it get in water? Is there any type of aluminum heat sink add on for the motor? I am trying to keep it an ok condition if it works

Its 3800 kv (maybe 3500 kv, cant remember for sure), so go low as you can to start. I hope your not trying to crawl to much, its gonna cog like crazy(sensorless 2 pole). It will be hard on your drive shafts and transmission...

measure temps a lot. You might be able to gear up, depending on what your doing with it.

It will have some wheel speed though, lol.

VXL- 3500 kv motor.
2s or 3s lipo?
Get a temp gun and check it at 5 and 10 min. and adjust the pinion gear from there.

I had a fan quit on me when it got wet. Get some CorrosionX to spray on the fan and let it dry.
Also be sure that the sensor port plug or cover is in. I used a piece foam from a battery spacer to plug the hole when I lost the plug.

I have some dielectric battery spray that works ok. I just dont know if it washes away or not. Thanks for the tips guus. And do i really need to watch temps when im in snow?

The more the motor is pushing against, the more load it sees and the more current it draws. I have a stampede vxl myself and if i drive it in mud, tall grass, or snow, the motor gets pretty hot. I have my pede geared down to 9/54 to counteract that. I run 3s on my pede.

+1

Personally I think it's a little too much motor for a scx10

I have the stock plastic trans housing and axles. But all steel gears in trans an mip driveshafts, aluminum ring and pinions. Its gonna be used for trails and mud and snow. I dont wanna just play with it indoors during winter again. I wanna snow bash the crap out of it and not worry. I have a movak goat 18.5t in it right now, but dont feel like trying to waterproof yet. I need liquid electrical tape first, but i have plenty of black rtv"thumbsup". I just hope it comes in the mail today after getting my hopes up yesturday thanks to usps:evil::flipoff:

Man i had this exact same setup in my honcho, geard at 12/87 and dude it was a beast. SUUUPER powerful lol, great speed and power. I actually pulled my girlfriends little boy in a push car down my street. I had the stock esc and it was fine. The only thing i did not like about it was low speed crawling. It cogs really bad at crawl speeds since its such a high kv motor. For that reason i got rid of it and went to my holmes hobbies 35t and a castle sv2. If you dont believe me about the video i can email it to you lol

Im not planning on crawling with im, im planning on trail running, and mudding and snow wheeling. It a waterproof brushless with some punch. Plus i have a 90 tooth spur for it
