Ultimate Tire Test: Part 1

Of course the wd40 attacks the rubber.....that's why I use it. I spray it only where it's needed....on the tread. I don't know what the downside really is in using it? I mean.......how long will these tires even last? By the time wd40, or any chemical for that matter, destroys a tire, the tire needs replacing anyway, right?
It's like the difference in using a servo saver and not using one. I want the best performance NOW and I'll worry about the breakage and cost of the breakage later.

As for buying tires that rate high in my test.....be careful. For one....I haven't concluded the test and I think the LST might beat them all!!!! Secondly.....I tried to test the tires on different terrains and in different situations to make it fair and accurate..but remember.....I used my truck, with my driving style on my courses. The outcome, as in any test, may be completely different in someone elses hands. I do believe though, that if you choose the A tested tires, you will not be sorry with their performance.

Great write up and very accurate to my (limited experience) with some of those tyres.

I have just done same with my IMEX Swamp Dawgs as you suggested, I cut out all the smaller blocks leaving bigger voids and I also discarded the inner foams. The difference in crawling ability is significant I'd say as much as 50% more traction when climbing over rocks and other items.

Keep up the good work 8)

I have a set of Claw dawgs but they are too small in diameter for my truck. I tried them and the tread is more suited to road use than anything, they gave very little grip in stock form over rubble/rocks. I found the Swamp Dawgs performed much better even in stock form. The Claw Dawgs are barely 4" in dia although they are wider.

i put some bfts on my clod crawler, cut every other lug off the tire, chopped the foams , narrowed the rims (back side bead) and glued the scraps of tread on for side biters.

these tires work awesome. i would have never thought to use them until i read this write up.:) :)

Better tires have come out since this writeup was done. I started out using BFT's, but once I got a set of moab's there is no going back.
