TRX 4 Run time estimate? (mamba X and puller pro 2700)

Hey guys! Question time (sorry!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜š)

Tonight I ordered a Holmes hobbies puller pro 2700kv / mamba X and his bec-less servo with a view to putting them in a TRX 4.

I've ordered the eBay mod from Germany that allows for running 2 batteries on the side skids of the trx4

Now I need to look at batteries, can anyone with a TRX 4 on 3s advise me on how long they get out of their batteries on a brushless set up? I was looking at running 2 smaller packs to keep weight down but I don't want to have to carry more than one spare set if possible so I kind of need rough idea of run times so I can choose my batteries!

I will be mixing up trail and crawling but all advice is welcome to help me!

Thanks

I guess I better ask the local hobby shop to order my truck now!

Nobody can give you an accurate run time estimate. That is mostly relative to how you drive and what batteries you run.
Faster continuous driving burns way more juice then crawling.

But:
Since its a faster motor, it will not run as long.
Since its a Brushless It is more efficient so it will run longer.

So, probably not far from however long the stock setup would last you. Maybe a little longer.

Running 4s batteries I believe will give you more run time for the weight and size of the battery.
Hobby king was just having a sale on little Turnigy batteries. Maybe its still going.

Thanks, I was just looking to see if anyone with a similar set up might say they get roughly X minutes on a pack when trailing or y mins while crawling but I appreciate that may be a little vague or hard to do. Just some sort of indication.

I went ahead and ordered 4 1500 turnigy graphene packs to run 2 in parallel at a time. Hopefully that will be suitable for runs with the local guys and if not I'll get a couple of 1800 or 2200 packs.

Cheers

Any more info on the ebay battery mod ?

I'm running on my trex turnigy 3s 2700mAh 65c batteries with a run time around 1.5 to 2 hrs with stock electronic mixed trail crawl.

Am I allowed to put eBay links on here?

Otherwise its a German produced carbon fibre mod and you could search for:

"Complete rebuild set batteries on siderails trxx-4 cnc"

I can't do better as I'm working over seas and have only just had it dispatched. Better yet, my TRX-4 is on order and I don't know when the LHS will have it. I will however, upload pictures of the truck when I get her and mod her...

Thanks! that gives me some piece of mind that I wont see terrible run times with 3000mAh of capacity!!

My TRX4 has a Castle 2280kv motor so the results will be a little different but a single 4000mah 3S pack will last me somewhere between 3.5 - 4 hours on the trail. I always have to head back home before the battery actually dies.

3 amp hours (two 1500 in parallel) should net you between one and two hours of runtime, but that is a big guess.

If you just stick to crawling around it could easily be three hours. If you spend a lot of time in second gear it might be 45 minutes or less.

I typically get well over an hour of crawling on one 2200 pack with a 2200kv motor.

Thanks, that's pretty respectable

Thanks, I went with advice from an HH to an email I sent (probably from you?) and ordered the slightly faster motor but I won't be flying about all the time, I think mostly it will be slower trail driving and crawling. It's nice to have the speed for the odd bit of messing about with my son in the street though.
