I bought a Hitec D956WP servo which can draw 5A at peak and want to use it to replace the TRX 4 stock servo. I heard the Traxxas BEC is rated 3A, but I don’t know what is the maximum it can provide. I understand Hobby 1080 is a better solution. But replacing the ESC requires too many modifications and I prefer not to do that now. Any idea if I can use the Traxxas BEC to power this Hitec servo? Thanks.

Welcome to RCC!

Do NOT waste your time or money on the Traxxas 2260 BEC, it is not programmable and output is fixed at 6v 3a. The Castle Creations 10a BEC is a MUCH better choice when used with the Holmes Hobbies by pass harness and will serve you now and into the future. The best option would be to install the HW1080 and CC 10a BEC but you can add the HW1080 at a later date.

CC 10a BEC:

Don’t forget a quality servo horn that matches the splines on the steering servo.
