Hi guys I'm a newb here, I have been enjoying this forum very much. I recently purchased 2 Rs 10's for my son and myself and have been modding mine. I have lowered and trimmed the body, siped the stock tires & removed the foams and also weighted the front tires. I am experimenting with mine before modding my sons. Long story short while we were crawling yesterday my rear servo stripped, to no surprise after having read this is common for these, so while shopping on ebay I found traxxas 2075 servos for $39 a pair. Knowing my son's truck won't be far behind I ordered 2 pairs, I was looking at the Savox 222oz metal gear servos but $wise right now I figured I would be better off having them for both trucks rather than just mine. I will eventually go with the Savox, but I was wondering if anyone has tried the Traxxas 2075 servo and if so how they worked? I realize they're only around 125oz of torque but figured they would be an improvement over the stockers. I don't want to lockout the rear steer I really prefer having it.

basically any servo is better than no servo.
with electronics it is only a question of how much money you want to spend.
and how rough you drive. 39.00 a pair is more than i have been paying for my metal gear servos
but then i have to wait 4 - 6 weeks to get mine

maybe invest in some servo savers, the traxxas heavy duty #1844 and the kimbrough large extra strong
servo savers i am using. at 4 - 8 bucks it is cheap insurance. there are many others

enjoy

Thanks Cabron, I'll start looking into those savers, I figure I can use the 2075s on our stampedes when we eventually go to the Savox servos. I misspoke about the price it was $35 per pair and $6 shipping.a

With crawlers you want STRONG servos.
Traxxas 2075 (125 oz-in) is by no means strong in crawler terms.
222 oz-in is a bit on the weak side as well. 300-ish is okay.

You can get for example a pair of MG995 at $15 total from eBay (China). They're ~200 oz-in and might be sufficient for you.
Do get a separate BEC to feed them as well, 5A @ 6V should suffice, or your ESC will suffer.

Thanks Ollie will I need to get a separate bec for the traxxas servos or just when I upgrade to the higher torque servos?

i ran a 2075 in my bone stock scx10 and stripped the gears 3 different times (thankfully gear sets can be had for $5, but it still adds up)

All 3 times were from taking a tumble.

I have since swapped out to Solar D772 servos on both rigs (powered at i think 7v by a CC Bec) and have no complaints yet. And at $17 per, keep a few on hand when/if it goes bad

The Traxxas 2075 servo has plastic gears and pretty weak in the torque department...not worth it. IMO, metal gears are mandatory for a crawler regardless of the torque value. Olle P is right, though...the more torque, the better.

A separate BEC is never wrong, but you'll notice when you actually need one.

(I ran my high voltage servo straight from the battery instead of using a BEC though, before switching to 4S batteries...)

For 4 wheel steering, do we need two BEC or just one?

I run 4ws with one BEC , I run rc4wd twister waterproof servos and they been great ... I have my BEC set at 7.4v and no problems ( and my honcho is kinda heavy ) great servo for $59 ! And it's normal size , some waterproof servos are much bigger than normal !

Is this the part we need?

.

There is a wiring diagram in the package when you buy the bec....

BEC= plugs into receiver , and pos/neg side off of bec gets soldered to the connector on esc that ur batt plugs into (make sure u program it )
Esc= remove red wire from plug that plugs into receiver , because bec is powering receiver now ...

Lastly make sure you check that ur rx , servos can handle the power u program bec at !

Hey guys thanks again for all of the info, hopefully the servos should be here tomorrow. I wish I would have checked here before I ordered the traxxas ones, at least I'll have plenty of spares for our stampedes eventually after we upgrade to the higher torque servos."thumbsup"

I received the 2075 servos today, installation was easy and straight forward. I was able to use the stock arms on the new servo shafts, and the plugs to the esc were the same as well. I haven't gotten a chance to take it out crawling yet, but they definitely respond quicker and sound much stronger than the stockers while cruising around the house. I won't install them in my sons truck until his strip out, at least I have a set when the time comes. I'm looking forward to us take his bone stock truck to my slightly modded truck to see the differences between the two. I'll start posting pics and vids once I figure out how to do it on my iPad.
