Im a dummy and i need help :lmao::lmao:

So I'm looking for a decently priced 3 channel transmitter than has a 2 position switch on the 3rd channel. I thought the Spektrum DX3's 3rd channel was a 2 pos. and would work, but isn't and doesn't. Im tempted to just buy the Traxxas TQI because i know 100% that works, but don't really like the feel of it in my hands.

any help is appreciated!

Can you set the third channel to "toggle" for the transmission shift?
Each press would just change to servo position.

I don't have a DX3 but that is how I have my shift and differential locks set on a DX5.

The dx5c is really hard to beat for $99 if you can find them. Spektrum receivers run from $30-$60 but it’s way nicer to have one radio receiver and swap between models. That and it unlocks so much more tuning as far as epa speed trim etc.

Not sure, but I’ll have to look into that! The DX3 is by far my favorite Transmitter I’ve used. I think if you can do it on the DX5 I bet you can on the DX3.

EDIT: looks like I can switch from 3 position momentary mode and 5 position latching mode. Not sure if either will work.

Thanks! I’ll look at that one too[emoji1688]
I was thinking about picking up one DX5 rugged, but I like the idea of having multiple radios, especially since I’m not the only driver now.

Firstly I'd recommend considering one of the DX5's as they have a lot more buttons and features that may come in handy down the road.

The spekrtum 3 position switch's can be set to either a 3 position switch or a 2 position switch. When you go through the setup for 'channel assign' select the aux channel you want, then select the input (the button you'll push), whether its 2 or 3 position, then theres cyclical (function will cycle round and round) and momentary which is just like it sounds a timed application.

First to free up the button you may want to use you'll likely need to change the default trims which are set to button A and B (go to trim setup, then next). I like to move those to buttons C and D so I can free up the closer buttons.

EDIT: i'll just add that the Rugged is my least favorite radio due to the shitty touch screen controls, its best suited for rigs that dont need lots of setup and fine tuning.

Hmm, I don’t see that option in the manual. Are you sure you’re talking about the DX3 and not the DX3.0?

Sorry I'm referring to the DX5 and I dont see that in its manual but in the menus I do see this and have used it. I would assume the 3Position switch work the same on the DX3 though.

EDIT: never mind just checked the DX3 manual and it doesnt look to function the same

Oh okay. I think I’ll just pick up a DX5.

I also seen this Futaba and it looks to be a 2 pos.
