So, I do not weld. But I want a truggy and I want to do it myself.

My Chinese Frame just came in was like $50 shipped during sale, could not resist. I already collected a Tamiya Toyota Hilux body and chinese portals.

My goal is to blend an already made tube frame to an off the shelf truck body (looks like I will have to heavily modify body)

Also, I could only find frame for Axial SCX10 II trans, I will be running an Axial Scx10 trans, so it looks like I will have to mod frame to clear front drive shaft.

This is a side project, so it will take some time, but should be fun.

Hmm, first fitting; like a glove. No more work needed, I'm done. lol, I kid, I kid.

The front of body is to wide and long, the tube frame roll cage does not fit. This should be...interesting.

Stay tuned to watch some bone headed bubba craftsmanship.

one problem solved. Will still need to shorten hood and narrow (dovenose) it.

I am currently working on a doorless hilux, so this one I think I'll go half door.

That's it for now.

frame dried, here are some pics. So this is my idea of a easy diy truggy. Will work on it more later.

The dovenose/pinched is not as dramatic as my leaf sprung truck because I followed the shape of the tube frame.

more work done on body shape. I am happy with overall look. hit it with primer, still see some areas to putty and sand out.

axial trans mounted and painting body atm. will probably due a simple interior.

Ironically, I will finish body and then list this for sale. I am having so much fun with the UMG10 I want to build on that and continue to upgrade and modify so I will use money from sales to work on it.

but stay tuned, I will finish this project because it is very cool idea and I want to see it realized to help others. plus, I am a mod junkie.

Ordered Hilux windshield, rear window and interior. Once they come in, this build will continue.

Thinking about cutting front bottom mounting plate off of this. That way I could cut an Axial frame in half and mount it from the middle trans point out to the front tube bumper.

Why you ask? Well, as the setup is now, you have to use tall shocks to clear the bottom mounting plate and you have to do a 4 link front setup (no room for panhard 3 link). Also, you cannot mount servo to axle if you wanted to. Also, with the tall shocks it looks goofy and not very low center gravity friendly for crawling.

Plus, it would be more like a real truggy. Just an option. I will wait until more parts arrive before deciding.

Small update. Added "rivets" for diamond plate. started interior and rear window.

Interior needed to be cut inhalf to fit over frame cross member bar. Modified benchseat to two seater. will add head rest and finish center console.
