Tower Pro MG945 vs. MG946R

I see that TP has introduced a new servo (MG946R) to replace the MG945.

Anybody had a chance to make an actual comparison between the two? I've been running the 945 since last summer and while they are strong, they do have their quarks. I just ordered two more 945's for 16.00 (a set) because at the time 946's were hard to come by. (26.00 including shipping is worth risk for two servos with this much power)

In the meantime I am wondering if the claim made by TP that the 946 is an improvment over the 945 is a valid salespitch.

I have a few 945's and 995's. I recently picked up a 946R and with less than 10 minutes on it, it locked up. :x I had epa's set and running 6.2 volts through a Castle BEC. No issues from my other TP servos. I hope I just got a bad one.

In the 10 minutes it worked, it seemed better than the 945.
 
It was definately less jittery................................................until it stopped working. :lol: Now it has no jittering problem at all. "thumbsup"
 
The board was updated to be better for Planes. So it should have less jitters. Also has 1 or 2kg more torque at 6v...
 
I just ordered a bunch of both the 945 and the newer 946R Ive been running a few for awhile without issue and they are definitely a little stronger.
 
On any of the tower pro servos the EPA's set correctly is paramount importance. IVe only had 3 fail on the 100 or so Ive sold and each time the gears came off of the shaft splines because of them constantly being forced into a bind position. The "R" units are less forgiving the the standard versions
 
i have been having issues with both of my tp mg945. one just wont turn and the other one turns but comes back to center with out me releasing the steering knob, and wont do as i ask when i try to engage the steering trim. anyone else have this problem???
