Top Gear US

US version => Plunge.

To try to appeal to the US market, it's going to be a bunch of tests of Camaros, Mustangs and Vetts....prolly throw in a Harley Davidson Lighting pickup into the mix....you know, just to switch it up a bit.

The marvelous photography, editing, and music will be gone.

My mind draws a blank when I try to think what they would do to the Reasonably Priced Car segment....drag strip? Oval? In a PT Cruiser?

It's gonna hurt to watch...

They won't have the balls to trash anything. Even if they rip on the poor Yugo (an easy target (and it sure made an impression, people still make the jokes 20 years after the last one came over here)) the guys at Fiat will whine. "Hey, we design-a dat car, still sell a shit-ton of 'em in Greece. You say we can't design-a da cars? No more Chrysler products for you!" Chrysler pulls its advertising. Network freaks, TG offers a half-assed apology: "What we meant to say is that the 1988 Yugo was a fine car, representing the state of the art in cheap transportation for people with low standards, and not a poo-box in any way, shape or form. We look forward to a free trip to Greece on Fiat's dime to test the 2010 models."

The Chinese are building some really scary shit and they'll probably be on our shores soon. The lawyers will make sure TG gives them a glowing review:

"Our test drive of the 2012 Tsingtao FU9000 was the most fun we've had behind the wheel since we drove the 1988 Yugo GV last week," etc.

TG UK is edgy because the guys doing the show are edgy. TG US will be pseudo-edgy because edgy sells.

Ding!! ...to all that...GM ponies up for ad time, Casablanco throws Histroy Channel a little "grant" out of the stimulus money, and BANGO!...according to the Top Gear experts, Toyota is the devil and all the GM's are solid gold!

....can't wait...

If for some reason UK Top Gear stops being show here in the US (which I doubt) you can get the EP's for all the seasons at http://www.finalgear.com/

I watched season 14 before the end of 13 was shown here in the states, and its not edited for us "sensitive" viewers here in the states.

exactly my thoughts! It will be nothing more than a 30 minute info-mercial for GM, Ferd and that other crap company. I'm sure they will scream about 'US' built products, even though there isn't one domestic vehicle that is 100% produced in the U.S.
