Tire Test: Imex 2.2 All-T

Well I ordered some too. We'll see how they fit on my tuber. I don't think there are going to after Toyo's thread. I'll put them on HPI SS wheels because of the backspacing. I hope it works. Hey Griz I"m going to PM you a couple ?'s.

Or, do like I do and get it delivered to your workplace. When you write it down in the checkbook, instead of entering "Joe Schmoe's LHS", just enter "Joe Schmoe". That way, when she asks why you paid this guy, tell her that you owed him some money from a long time ago or something and you just now remembered to pay him back.

Or, another little trick of mine:

Only sweep up the shop about once every two months so the floor is almost always covered in aluminum shavings and the like. Then, put all your crawler stuff out there. She won't dare enter for fear of getting all that crap stuck in her shoes, or feet if she's barefoot. Works for me.

Something thread related: Just ordered 4 of these tires off eBay (maybe six, not sure if punched the right buttons or not... )

Stay in the hobby long enough and it'll get to the point that she'll have no idea what you've got.

In the past week I think I've had about 5 packages arrive.

"I sold some of the old stuff and bought this with the money I made." ;)

Alright, I had the chance to run a pack through my Bulu1/TLT truck to "test" the All-T's in my backyard.

I have them on 'Pede rims, inner bead on inner most lip. Not really completely narrowed wheel yet. Tires are NOT glued to rims. No air/breather holes have been drilled yet. No foams.

From my one battery pack test I found that the All-T's work nicely. I think Imex might have a real crawling tire on their hands, if they can make the compound a bit softer like the M2 Pro-Line compound they would awesome.

On a scale from 1 to 10(10 being the best) and currently the Mashers are a 10..... I'd have to say that the Imex All-T's are a good 8, so far. I plan to do more testing on Saturday and Sunday at a variety of spots to truely test the tires.

I noticed no "Kong tire rolling" episodes happening. The All-T's so far seem to be a good pick. They are big but so far I'm happy with them. Plus they sound killer when climbing up the rocks, you hear each and every lug grabbing the rock(s).

No glue yet ;-)

Remember... no foams, no air holes in rims.

Once I take care of the wheel mods I think I will like these tires even more.

Oh yeah... these tires will make you re-gear the small beast. I need to drop down about 4 teeth on my pinion to make it a bit slower. I like them!!

I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure the All-T is truly a better tire, but it is a good tire. 8)

Yea, I forgot to mention that. My 13T/12T pinions were a little high. I'm gonna try a 11T/10T combo on the Clod.
Good to hear your opinion Toyo.

Time to add more to my tire testing.....

I have now ran about 4 packs through the truck running the All-T's. I do like them but have now noticed a problem(s).

Tread chunking/lugs rounding off is becoming quite noticable. I'm not sure if this is due to poor molds or bad rubber but it looks like the tires wouldn't last to long if this keeps up at the rate they are going.

Another item that is on my list of "how to fix it" for the All-T's is the non-equal amount of tire flex. It appears that the All-T's are soft down the middle but the sidewalls and tread corners/edges are made a bit thicker which causes the center of the tread to colapse and you'll then loose traction. A modified foam might solve some of this but not too sure.

I swapped the All-T's off and slapped on the Mashers and I will say that in some spots the added width and height of the All-T's did help but for the better tire between the Masher and All-T...... It's still the Mashers. Tomorrow ORCRC will be running and the All-T's will get passed between everyone to try & test. I'll record everyone's opinions on them and get more ideas on what needs to be modified to make them work better.

I've compared the All-T tires against my well worn Mashers and the Mashers are still the gripiest tire I've ever used. On the same rocky course on the same day, with cut foams in both types of tires, the Mashers worked better than the All-Ts except where the extra clearance was needed. I was able to do a couple of spots with the All-Ts that I couldn't do with the Mashers because of the extra clearance. However, there were more spots the Mashers handled with very little effort that the All-Ts made into a major production. I'll second the unequal tred flex comment, the All-Ts seem to smash down in the middle so the tire is just riding on the outer edges of the tread. I still like the All-T tires for looks and clearance and they seem to work pretty well on dirt and rough rocks, but for smooth rocks the Mashers are still the best.

do think backing the inside of the tire with a tape(like duct tape?) would help event he flex of the face of the tire?

I hadn't thought about using duct tape to stiffen the center of the tread area. It might help. I think the real issue is the void between treads that runs down the center of the tire. Someone mentioned in a previous post that modified foams might prevent the tire from collapsing in the center while still allowing the tire to flex. I may try that.

Well My tires should get here today. Has anyone thougt about cutting the outer lugs to soften them. That would effecively solve the center flex. On all of my 2.2 tires a run a foam just cut in half so it's roughly 1" wide. That may help as well.

when you use cut foams, do you use glue to hold it to the center(or were ever you want it) of the rim?.

thanks for the education ;)

Nope just toss them in. I've narrowed the rims so they stay put.

i like the way they look and i have had mashers and swamp dawgs but i think the only thing the masher had over the swamps was the horizantal traction and the clearence... so if these work better then i guess i gotta get me another set of 2.2s lol

how has the tire testing going with the all-ts?

i have mine and i am not going to run them anytime soon. each tire feels different. side wall thickness, the center section of the tire between the lugz is un true, i have 2 tires that ball up like tissue under the weight of my TSC10r.

was thinking that narrowing the tire 1/4 of inch and backing it with tape would give the proformance wanted with the tires. but just not enough time right now to try.

I ended up removing the tires and swithing back to Masher 2000s, I just didn't have enough guts in my servos to steer or the right gearing to run these tires. I also wasn't interested in upgrading my servos and gearing to run tires that perform worse than my M2Ks. However, my 15 month old son loves the tires because they make a nice squeaky toy sound when he sqeezes them and he seems to like the way they taste. So, I guess it wasn't a complete waste of money.
