The Chop Shop- 1990 Class 1 Topless K5 Blazer

Your skills are unbelievable, how many hours go into one of your bodies?

I can tell you the Silverado he did for me was over a 2 month process between working on it and his other day to day stuff.

Thank you sir "thumbsup". I put alot of hours into these as you can imagine. The one thing I have going for me is my commitment to a cut, if that makes sense. I measure, mark and cut. I don't really put alot of caution into the approach. Once I have my game plan in mind I execute it with little to no hesitation. That makes the most out of my time. Doing this, working a 60 hr per week job, and supporting a family of four has forced me to do things this way. So far it works .

Yup, it did come in right at the 2 month mark. Your build was one of, if not the most time consuming job that I've done to date (next to the crew cab F350 Dually). But the end result was worth every minute of it.

I'm trying to come up with a idea for a front bumper. I have one that was on my D90 truck and it matches up with the body lines pretty well, but I need something lightweight. I also need it to protect the grill for extra scale points too. If anyone has a idea, post up a pic and I may have one made for me. I still haven't heard back from Colby on my rear bumper that has been several months in the making, not sure what's going on there.

its a blazer. you should make a scale rail road tie for the front. :)

so, just saying man, this is gonna be awesome. idea. you should try to make the top just to have on the side like you removed it for trail riding.

Lol, No rail road ties MJ. I thought about a top, but it would only be on for pics and I don't really have time to make one for myself. Maybe one day down the road I will.

Good stuff here kids! I love your work brother!
Thank you sir. I appreciate the kind words.

So Im thinking about a bumper like this, but as lite as I can get it. I also decided on a rag top. I'm going to make some mounts so I can pin it in place when I want to run it, I figure it'd save on the weight up top by going to a soft top.

I really like that bumper, you can get the new RC4WD warn winch to go on it too. Would look awesome.

Keep that bumper in mind because I would like one for my suburban.

I sub to this thread a few days ago and I just wanted to say I can't wait till its done cause I love K5 Blazers and GMC Jimmys. I had a 86 GMC Jimmy Sierra Classic full size with power everything, a 350 small block with a 2in flow master. It was unstoppable. lol

Ha, Im not making it. Ive got a deal lined out with somebody at the moment to get a lightweight version made. Colby is still making the rear bumper for it.

Awesome work James.

Updates???? I know it's the holidays but......
I was messing with it here and there. But I have some updates now.

I can see this being another awesome build by you.will be watching.
Thank you "thumbsup"
Awesome work and mad skills!
Thanks "thumbsup"

I got some work done to the body, but I also got some hardware for the axles too. I got a full set of 4 Beeftubes for SCX10s and some RC4WD CVDs. I also picked up some HD underdrive gears for the front and some black Axial alloy upgrades. I'm thinking about looking at shaving some plastic off of the casings to get some clearance. Any ways, enough talk on to the pics.

I filled the hole in the roof and hood. Then I trimmed the front fenders just a touch and sanded down the filler from the seams and holes.

I also got the grill too. I love it so much that I ordered more .

What

I love the look so far.

That grille is spot on! Love it.
I vote GMC emblem.

EDIT: Actually that's the incorrect grille for a GMC, so Chevy it is! lol
