TF2 "Trailblazer" project (rc4wd Blazer)

Hi all, I just finished the TF2 chassis build and starting the build thread of the "Trailblazer" -so this will be only for sand,trail and very light rock crawling.(this will NOT look anyting like the chevy trailblazer )

I allready have SCX-10 and MST CMX for the rocks, CC-01 (for some reason), and wanted to build one really scale looking rig for a change.

So far the parts:

-TF2 kit
-RC4WD Blazer body


-CC Sidewinder SV3
LRP Truckpuller 3 12V
-HW ubec
-Beier USM-RC2 sound/light/serco controller module(really cool, have 1 in my tractor truck)

2xSavox 16kg servos


I have also ordered:
-Old man emu´s (90mm)
-Gelande 2 front hoops
-MT scale hubs


Will most likely get the RC4wd engine/tranny kit later when the budget allows.

Yes, alot of wiring to come,may need to do large toolbox for the bed also if I cant fit these under the body, need to make some mounts and speaker box etc... -and leds, lots of leds!

Ordered the Dick Cepek fun countrys and painted the wheels black. Tore the emu´s down

and re assembled with green slime and some 800cst tamiya oil. Not the worst shocks out there imo... -but not trf racing shocks eighter. They are more then good enough for this build anyway. needs thicker oil thought.


Still thinking where to fit the electronics, the interior needs to be dropped some so the scale driver will fit so no room under the floor for anything. So it is a huge toolbox on the bed or everything under the hood.(and no scale v8 )

I will use the i10 radio on this truck so the lights and sounds are easier to switch on/off and gear change is done with a 3 pos swiths so I can have neutral also and revv the "engine"
Since there are no throttle return springs I needed to do some thinking, this is what I got so far: -a bezel that makes accidental reverse more difficult.

Thinking these switches and knobs should be enough for this

Sorry for my slow progress

I hate the mounting screw holes, so I made some changes:

Removed the second pair of body posts and drilled out the front ones 3.5mm.
Then m3 stainless screws in the front holes and a nut other side ,all these were then covered with ca glue and epoxy, and finally some filler was applied.

The rear body post holes on the chassis were perfect for some magnets and another set of these were glued to the body.

Now the body is super fast to remove and really solid when mounted on the chassis"thumbsup"

The new shocks are nice! -way better then stock pogo sticks.

The tires are super soft,maybe too soft if this thigh gets any heavier...

I also got Junfac shafts, but they need some work to fit properly, more details soon(ish)

Interesting to see the guts of the OME shocks. Everyone says you can't put oil in them. Looking at these photos makes me think that I can.

I have not yet driven this but no leaks at all after sitting in the shelf for a month. They are ok shocks imo.

Weather cleared enough to spray. This is not scale accurate theme I know (attleast I have not found any that has the side stripes this tall).
I had 89 fleetside with this type silver/burgundy theme and loved it.

This is not exactly the same, beeing metallic champagne and candy red.

There is some overspray in few spots so no clear lacquer until it has been wetsanded off.

Need help with wheel offsets.

I understand positive and negative offsets but I have no idea how rc4wd offsets work out in the real world.

Thinking these would be great but will these narrow or widen the track? -how much? -compared to the stock wheels?

and 1.55 or maybe the 1.7? -1,7" would be about 15,5" in real life I think.1.55 14" ?

Ok, I did try to make the leather seats, but it is too stiff to bend the shapes needed so I went with paint.

Thinking burgundy but may keep this color idk yet.

Had to try the red, mixed few leftover faskolor paints and sprayed.

Thinking the red is better...

Brown was nice, but the red is kind nicer I think. Try some Crawler Innovations Deuces Wild foams. "thumbsup"

Loehdingc,no idea I´m not that far yet.

Started with carpets.

I could not find correct color so I painted the lighter red carpet with same color as the seats ,but lighter coat.(the faskolor paint is actually made for textiles anyway )

Also made the speaker box. Still needs some cleaning up but fits nicely between rails.
