Tenshock RC906: yes or no ?

All this KV talk reminded me I didn't mention I'm running the 1750 kv. White Trash is right about the 2400 kv variant. Glad I chose the 1750.

what kind of wheel speeds are you seeing with the 1750kv and 6 poles? I will be running 3s on my 10.2. Seems as if the thing will barely go with that kv and the 10.2's already very low gearing. I was considering this motor for my daughters new rig. She is 7 an im not sure she needs a $132 Puller Pro motor.

Thanks

Typical reply..

I'm actually running one, Not just speaking blindly..

Its got a bit of cog, But its manageable, the pros far outweigh the single con of some mild cogging.
Running an SV3 instead of a 2x $$ Mamba

Waterproof, and no brushes to let me down?? Its really a great motor,, As good as sensored? Not really no, But suprisingly good.

Neither of which are nearly as smooth as brushed.. It really comes down to what pros and cons work for you..

That said, I'm so far loving my 906..
Typical response because it's the truth. It's just silly to run a sensorless motor on a crawler these days. TENSHOCK is out of touch.

Managable cogging is too much for most of us. We want no cogging or we want brushed.

If this comment was from anyone else, I would feel the need to defend myself. From the town moron however..

However I will say, In the last 2 scale events I've been to, I've had several people ask me what I'm running because they want the same setup..

So much for your theory.. I'll take a $40 motor and $60 speed controller with all the benefits of brushless with none of the headaches, Or the extra $200 in electronics.

It really is up to the ESC and motor. While I haven't tried any sensorless in crawlers, I have had an SC that had major cogging issues. I went from a 2-pole 3500kv Speed Passion setup to a Sidewinder 3 & CC 4600kv 4-pole & they were re-geared for about the same top speed. The SP cogged like it was missing 1/3 of the gearbox teeth whereas the CC motor/esc didn't cog even once. Smooth as silk.

In this situation I think people should re-read all the statements made by actual tenshock owners while taking the non-owners' posts with a block of salt. Keep in mind most people cut their teeth with cheap sensorless products that are 2-pole on 2S. More poles & more cells with reduced gearing completely changes things.

Does anyone that runs this motor have any setup tips , I picked up the 1750kv and hooked it up to a sidewinder esc on 3 cell , would like to try it out in a 6 lbs scx trail rig , 32p 56 tooth spur and 10 tooth pinion , I'm not sure what setting i should start with on the esc , Any info would be great , Thanks guys

I have no clue about the sensor less motors, but I will say the sc411 3500kv sensored motor is a very good motor for the money. A lot of power, and pretty smooth aswell.

This thread is still alive :ror:
I still haven't bought any motor as I'm short in money (and I still have one working 27T)

That's why I was looking to this motor, I've been running the SC411 for 6 years and never had an issue !

Well Thanks guy's but i really don't see this thread making a comeback , lol , There's just no one with any info , Thank's anyway "thumbsup"

Just installed the 1250kv in my SCX10 II and it is crazy smooth. If I didn't know it wasn't sensored I would swear it is.

Running a 17t but am going to see if a 19 will fit. On 17, the motor only pulls 17 amps. I ran for almost 2 hours yesterday on a 4000mah 15c battery!

I'm running the 906 1750kv on a 3s geared quite low.
It does every thing I want with very few headaches.
Timing advance needs to be kept low on multi-pole motors, under 10deg total advance.
One of the keys to these types of motors is setting the startup punch just right.

I have seen too many sensored motors have issues when not waterproofed properly & cog to high hell.
These types of motors are a bit of a compromise without a sensor, good crawling or good speed...
I would buy another.

I am gonna do a run this am, I will post the data log when I'm done. I am running on 3s and am toying with the idea of trying a 4s or 5s.

Be sure to try out our new V2.02 firmware for the X series controllers. Huge improvements in sensored and sensorless motor operation and start-up, better throttle linearity, enhanced drag drag holding power on inclines and much, MUCH more.

We have also added a new Aux wire mode called "Rock Race/Crawler Mode" that allows you to switch between crawler mode with 100% drag brake and instant reverse to another Reverse Type (usually "With Reverse") and an adjustable drag brake percentage. You just need a transmitter with an aux channel than can be assigned to a dial or switch.

Give it a try and let us know if it helps with the smoothness and all around performance and driveability!
