Hey Guys,

This is the only RC forum I'm on and realize it's nothing to do with crawlers but was hoping to seek some advice from you knowledgeable people on this conversion.

So yeah, as per the title I want to convert my tnx 5.2r to lipo powered, brushless electric and was wondering what esc/motor would make this 1/8 buggy as fast or a little bit faster than the standard nitro motor? (it doesn't have to be stupidly fast, it's only a basher)

I'm trying to keep the costs down just in case this conversion fails miserably so a budget of around $150 or less (hopefully) for the esc motor combo. Also I'm not sure what cell battery's to use, 6 cell would be nice but I realise may not be possible with such a limited budget on the motor/esc.

Also I was hoping to use the standard two speed tranny and mess around with pinion and spur gearing, would the standard tranny be suitable for this application?

Any thoughts, suggestions, advice, opinions appreciated.

Try Hobbyking for the Esc and motor. I am also thinking about doing the same to my TNX 5.2. I am thinking of using this:
Universal Fit Motor Mount - HPI Savage Flux, RC Monster Products
or this:
Electric Motor Mount - AE MGT, RC Monster Products
to mount the motor.

Motor I am planning to use: HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy TrackStar 4068 2560KV 1/8th Brushless Motor

ESC: HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy TrackStar 150A 1/8th Scale Brushless Car ESC

For your situation, if you decide to buy from HK, make sure to get it from the Austrailian Warehouse for cheaper and faster shipping.

Another method I have seen for conversion is to use a EREVO transmission and mounting it to the chassis.
