Tamiya CC01 for competing in things

The 1.55s are painted and installed. So much better.
I painted the headlight bezel too (matte gold which is weird) as the chrome was, well too chrome.

It’s been a while since I finished a rig but this one is done. Nothing left on the list to do except a flat belly skid but I’ll just run it for now.

What a great looking build! Great job!

Love how the body turned out! I’ve been putting off getting one of these CC01’s, but after seeing this, I think it’s time to pick one up!

ive seen alot of the cc01s being discontinued and whats left doubled in price

i have found a few good deals on tamiyas website thats were i got mine it was on sale for the old price so i got one but looked a few weeks later and it was out of stock and discontinued

I wish Tamiya would institute a few of your changes. Would be a great way to update and make the Tamiyas decent for a little crawling. Your truck is beautiful.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to get moving on this before they all disappear.

good job on putting things together! I was unsure when I saw those white wagon wheels, painted and on the truck they are spot on!

2.5 years later and it’s still going. Broke a rear shock eyelet so I decided to do some updates while I fixed it. I like having a few runners on the shelf so when I want to just throw a battery in, I can.
I got the shock fixed and I always wanted a flat belly skid plate like on the 1.1 FJ Cruisers.

These CC01 rigs really are such fun little rigs, and quite accurate to real IFS rigs and such a blast to bash around.
While I was fixing the rear shock. I was tempted to rework the rear link geometry and go with a three link set up, but this actually just works so well as is and the rear suspension is so buttery smooth I think I’m gonna stick with it the way it is for now.

Time to test the new skid on some rocks.

I’ll update this in another 2 years. Lol. Until next time.

I tested out the new skid plate and it worked like a charm.

Woah! Flexxxx haha. Ooops busted another shock eyelet. Old brittle plastic.

Your rig looks fantastic! 👌 I hope mine comes out just 1% as good as yours. What tires are those if you havent already told?

I decided to remove the skids and throw some paint on. Primer grey for now and I’ll hit them with semi gloss black tomorrow to blend with the rest of the undercarriage. IMG_0384.jpeg
