T2W's TH - pic heavy

I've been slacking on body work recently because I was solely focused on my crawler course that ended up fun but not really big enough, don't get me wrong, its still fun and works great for testing set ups, I might have to invest in a mini crawler to really utilize this course

I have a question for y'all too. When I am in low gear and giving the motor power I hear a clicking but only when the truck is on the ground, any idea whats going on?

So I added 100K diff oil to the front diff because thats the highest my LHS had. Since I've done that, my truck has been sounding much more high pitched, is that due to the diff oil or should I be worried about something else?

I'll have some more pics after this weekend of upgrades, body work, and crawler course improvement

when I turn the front wheels I hear nothing, but when I turn the back wheels I can hear it

could I have tightened the gear mesh too much, or could it be the transmission? the motor got really hot and was smoking a little bit today

you're definitely binding somewhere. It's a pain, but to be on the safe side, tear down the trans and check for any stripped/melted gears if your spur is intact. With the motor disconnected, does your driveline spin freely?

Finally sat down to figure this sucker out…

drumroll please….

the gawdamn gear mesh was too tight! I feel silly, but am so relieved that was all. I took two screws out to remove the right roof panel and could access the motor mount from there

getting ready to do a build update too

I noticed early on there were some unused screw holes inside the window and when I went to Michael's for a random stuff hunt I found plastic needle point mesh (at least I think so) that is perfect for window screen, the were out of black, but I'm really diggin the white

those top two are tricky, luckily my cheap as shit driver handle thing came with a bendy tool "thumbsup"

right as I finished I dropped my hex bit into this black hole of a vent

but I have a handy dandy long neck bendy flashlight my folks gave me a while back

and the head is magnetic!

back to the build, finally I'm doing some electronics upgrading

steering serve had to go! can it be used as a shifter servo or be used in my loss micro trekker somehow?

then I went to put the servo saver on and shit…doesn't fit :x

the guy at my LHS goofed, the switched it out no problem, even saved a dollar 8)

muuuuuuuch better

next project was the front diff

I didn't want to lock it too much, but I was hoping for around 300K, LHS only had 100K so I went with that. I don't notice a crazy amount of change, but it is definitely better at climbing a bit, I managed hills that I couldn't before but it wasn't like a whole new truck or anything, I might have to order something thicker online

such adorable lil' gears

with diff oil added, but before it had settled entirely

happily found some automobile bearing grease in the basement, shit was gnarly but oh so smooth

gross wire tangles…

no gross wire tangles thanks to microscopic zip tie found in basement again

and heres the only pic I have of the body recently, its getting to the point where I all do is sand and fill, sand and fill, I want to get everything smooth before adding some detail work I have planned, can't wait to paint this thing, any color scheme ideas to go with the orange frame? I was thinking going monotone with white, grey, and black, maaaaaybe silver

that's it for now, I have a set of 1.9 super swampers on the way for my TH as well as my micro trekker which I have fallen in love with, really looking forward to getting some tires on both of em

any other upgrade suggestions to come next? it'll have to wait a bit to get em, I've been keeping myself to a budget ever week or else this will get out of hand way too quick

oh yeah, found these pics I had forgotten about, I lost drive in one wheel and had a hunch, the hunch was right

good thing I have a dremel and these things have two sides!

worked like a charm, but do y'all know if they sell metal ones?

You can get aluminum hexes from RPP.com if I remember right. Be careful with the double slotted plastic hexes. By having an already stripped side, it's much weaker and the center may completely let go. The hex size is the same as the Losi SCT hexes. My lhs had them, but they're $20 so I ordered a set through Amazon (had a gift card). Cost me $8 from China. Now I just have to wait.

Ordering a set after this post, thanks Pockets, you too hunter, I'm digging this forum community "thumbsup"

First things first, welcome the new addition to the familyI've been wanting an SCX10 but not as much as I wanted the TH, so the micro trekker was a great cheap option, I got an ID badge retractor thingy to use as a ghetto winch today and have been working on a tiny little custom body thats turning into a beast of its own really quick because: A-it's small as hell and B-I'm not being very precise with cuts and just wingin it, this way is more fun and I can try out ideas quicker, but you gotta wait to see it till later :flipoff:

Anyways, here's the bumper all cleaned up

I'm getting started on details and whatnot

I need to use some more body filler to curve it out

These little i-beams looked cool at my LHS, they'll probably get full of paint tho

One of three for this side, I think I'm going to add two more to make it five after finishing it

Here's the two bodies together! I've decided no body filler on the micro body just for a different look, the paint will help tho

These things are fun to build, I'm bidding on a Jeep body on ebay, I also found something special, but I'm keeping that a secret for now

do y'all think I should add windows on the side of the little cab?

NVM about the secret ebay body, I'm not a fan of spending at least $25 on a body for the micro, heres the link to the 1/20 scale Jurassic Park Explorer model "thumbsup"

I'm curious to know how you expect that body will hold up during roll-overs etc. It looks great, but I often wonder how people with these good Styrene skills drive their creations....inside?

Nice work, btw! "thumbsup"

This body will not be for bashing, more for trail running and some occasional rock crawling, but mostly hill climbing in dirt with no rocks around. The next body will be more sturdy with better connection points

Not sure if y'all heard, but we got some snow here in Atlanta and it basically shut the city down, we are not prepared for this kind of weather for shit, t'was a bit funny once I was safe and sound at home

Of course I had to take my hammers out in the snow, then the next morning the streets were iced so that was fun too

driving with one hand while filming with the other is tricky even on unfrozen ground

got my super swampers in today, I'll get pics up once I have star cut the foams down, also might try to get a coat of primer on the hardbody but no promises
