A couple of years ago I had PimpinRocks weld me up one of his works of art. His cage work is top tier, and I must emphatically say that I wanted a piece. So I did what I had to do. I ordered up a some of that sexy cage work. I had him wrap it around a classic. The 46 Power Wagon.

It sat on a shelf for far too long, but it is no longer. I am building it up!

Here are some pics of the raw chassis

The body came with a basic paintjob. I chose silver. It arrived to me looking like this

I prefer my rigs to be a little sweaty, so I went to work on that

I like a simple interior and a driver figure in my rigs, so got to work on that. I am using a 3D printed dash I purchased from Shapeways. Just dirtied it up a bit

The seat is piece from the old Tamiya Bruiser. It fits beautifully and to my understanding matches the style of the oem seat

Beautiful work, Pimpin' cages are the best, and you are doing it justice by adding just the right touches! "thumbsup"

Totally eh?! He is a talented cage builder. Thanks for the good words, appreciate that.

I like it! I’ve been obsessed with pw truggies lately, this doesn’t disappoint.

Thanks twade, no doubt the PW does make for a killer truggy

Nice build smog!"thumbsup" Glad you pulled this one off the shelf and blew the dust off of it!

Love the look of the cage and how it wraps around the PW! Nice detailing on the body! That interior looks perfect! Great job!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

What a fun build smog! I love your touches to a already cool metal work project. I have 4 different builds sitting on my shelf waiting to be finished and I think the fire to build is slowly building again!!
I'll be following along on this one. It is definitely my kind of a build. "thumbsup"

Thanks B! Yeah, it sat way too long. I somehow kept getting side tracked to other projects and just kept putting it off. I had this idea for awhile that I needed to put VP Curries under it, but never could quite get myself to open the wallet. With the poor currency exchange, they come with a pretty hefty price tag up here. The Pro44’s really helped the project get going. They are such excellent value.

Ernie, always great to have you pop in! Glad to hear you still have building on the radar. I do think I speak for a number of us when I say I miss your build threads. I have learned a lot from you over the years"thumbsup"

Soldered some motor wires and 4mm connectors then mounted the motor and meshed my spur and pinion. Meshing these gears is one of my favorite parts of any build. There a brief but perfect moment of satisfaction when one captures the perfect union:)

Gearing : Spur and Pinion. As beautiful as that meshing may be, getting the gearing you like is no less satisfying. When I went to check some gearing charts I could not help but notice that my transmission was running a 48 pitch Spur! Whaaat! I always thought Axial transmissions ran 32 pitch exclusively. hmmm

Good news is I have a bunch of 48 pitch pinions but no spare 32 pitch. Found an 18 tooth hanging in the rack which has me running an 87T Spur and an 18T pinion. The pinion is, of course, a Robinson Racing Absolute. I will start here. Is anyone else running 48 pitch on their SCX10, what gearing are you running:?:

I was thinking about trying 48p gears on my 10.2 just to see if it helped with noise. But then I put a revolver in and decided that’s the least of my worries.

That's friggin' hilarious... :lmao:

Same with my Bomber, have the RRP slipper delete spur and all metal 32p gears throughout, adding the Revolver just made me not care about noise!

I think John likes loud electronics. I suspect he talks to his motors:lmao:

My Mamba powered Puller Pro is also pretty loud.

I have never run 48 pitch gears on an Axial transmission. This transmission came to me through a trade. If it’s quieter I welcome that. While I don’t dislike chatty electrics, I do prefer quieter transmissions. Come to think of it, when I am in the woods, I prefer a dead-silent rig altogether. It’s nice to hear the birds.

Decided not to run the panels on the truck bed. Put together a simple flat bed to mount a receiver box to. Then built the receiver to fit

Finished off the receiver box with some paint. Decided to make my driver an explosives 'expert'. He is good at blowing stuff up.

Hah!

I love it!

Excellent build, my man..."thumbsup"

Oh man, looks a lot like a recovery truck I used to see running around Big Bear Lake back in the day. Should consider a little boom and winch in the back. ;p

Thanks guys, the comments are appreciated. Not sure about the boom, but this one will be getting a winch.

Took the PW out for her first run today on the back yard course. Got up on some limestone and through some mud and snow. Overall, the performance was excellent. Today she hit every line I can make with my Enduro. I gotta say I am loving this rig!

Took some pics8)
