Supra? Sumpra? Camo? I don't know, but here's what I'm doing with my Capra...

Picked up a Capra on Black Friday which turned into buying two and ending up with one 4WS & dig.
First run with it was fun, and set me off to mods...
Shocks were first on the list, got some 90mm SSD springs and essentially pen springs. The springs drop it down a bit and the springs under the pistons give me some good droop action.
Got some Treal wheels which turned out to send me on a Treal spree, now have 8mm hexes, brass portal cover F & R, and add on weights on the front.
Along with the Capras I'd bought a CC Mamba Micro X V2 W/Slate 2280kv combo which was great, good low end control and plenty of wheel speed for mild bashing. However, an RC buddy of mine turned me onto 3Bros Black Jacket sensored outrunners, my interest has been piqued in these since Holmes started an RCC thread on them 15 years ago. So I picked up the 2000kv variant.
I just finished stripping, degreasing, and regreasing F & R axles and got all the brass installed.
Along with the outrunner I got a 10t pinion, the stock trans case has to have the adjusting holes extended for it to fit. After getting it out I decided to just get an alu case, Treal of course. It handles down to a 7t.
For the wheels I got some LockedUp RC 2.5mm acorn nuts and washers along with some 10mm SS grub screws from McMaster.
Also happened to have some 5mm SS acorn nuts I'd bought for something or other a few years ago so using those for wheel nuts.

Now onto the title meaning...
Years ago I'd started a couple builds that like many of my others never finished. But these two I wish I'd had, Bushwhacker Hacker and a Doka.

Rolling stock:
Stock tires
Treal weighted wheels https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X45FCQL
PowerHobby dual stage foams https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=PHBPH475
LockedUp RC 2.5mm acorn nuts https://www.lockeduprc.com/M25-Acorn-Nuts-_p_411.html
LockedUp RC Precision Washers https://www.lockeduprc.com/Acorn-Nut-Precision-Washers-60_p_1645.html
Mcaster 2.5mm x 10mm SS grub screws https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/129/3455/92605A073

Thought the acorn lug nuts would be a cool little touch. Assembled them with a touch of red ThreadLocker, although I should have gone with 12mm grubs, the 10mm will work fine. Used blue ThreadLocker for wheel assembly.
The dual stage foams for the life of me I wasn't able to get the tire assembled with the outer layer so figured I'd try it with just the inner layer. Punched small holes in the tires on the inner side sidewall just below the tread.
Sitting, tires look aired down, hopefully it works alright.

Motor/Trans:
Got the Treal alu trans today, fantastic looking piece, shame it gets hidden down in the belly.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0863Q6ZY4
I was planning on only disassembling the old trans tonight, cleaning the gears, and reassembling tomorrow.
However, there was barely any grease on the gears so I went ahead and finished it off.
Following the Capra kit directions for assembly, the only thing I did different was install the only shim in it on the opposite side of the gear indicated. Some have had an issue with this gear grinding into the case. It all spins nice and free so I don't expect any issues.
Motor is a 3 Brothers RC Black Jacket sensored outrunner 2kKV

I dropped a tooth on the pinion from the 11t I'd installed initially to a 10t. Hopefully it holds, during test assembly stripped the pinion's grub screw but at least it's nice and tight.
Also, a word on the dig, being I'm using a FS GT5 radio, I set the dig servo EPAs up and have it 3 position, drive, freewheel, and locked.

Haven't worked on this much since the last post, but got a streak of motivation to get back on it.
Got the electronics all back together and it's a runner again.
The steering servos wires were starting to separate so I got some loom to cover them.
The BEC got shots of Shoe Goo in each end, and as well the RX got filled with it and used dielectric grease on the connectors.
Even while I wasn't working on it I'd sit and fiddle with component placement and arrived to where they're mounted now.
The BEC and ESC are Shoe Goo'd in place, and as well the ESC switch.
I like the layout, nice and low and gives some good space for the cockpit I'll be concocting.

So, when I'd starting cutting up the body to fit the Capra, the hood cut came out a little lacking. Using some profile styrene I had I edged the hood opening to straighten it up and look a little better.
The original hood hit on the tube frame keeping it from sitting down where it should. I was thinking to either try cutting clearance holes in the hood to fit, or throwing a heat gun to it and try pushing the hood down into the tubes, molding it to fit. Um yeah, so I went with the heat gun and it didn't work out too well. The molded part worked okay, but me thinks too much heat too long also distorted the whole area.
So while working on other things I pondered what to do around this and decided to just make a new hood. It has a slightly taller profile to clear the tubes. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, and I enjoyed making it. Forgot how fun styrene can be!

Got some more work done on the body. I doubled up the lexan inside the doors with some sheet lexan I had, cleaned, scuffed, and cleaned again and here it is with the white basecoat.
The holes at the top of the headlights were how I initially was planning on attaching the front but has changed. They will be covered by the grill overlay I got in the works. Didn't think I was just going to leave the front all white like that did ya?!
Also going to try and hit the fender flares with Plasti-Dip. Going to let the paint cure for a few days before too much more handling or before trying to tape it off.
I've got a theme for it mind, it'll become apparent as the body continues along. Although it may identify me as "oh, one of those guys...".

I'm hoping there'll be another big post soon. I want to see how this body ends up.

So the hood I'd made of .030 styrene, and the sides started warping in. Last weekend I was going to cut the sides out and redo them. Very shortly after the X-Acto slipped out and sunk in my finger tip edge wise, not point. It opened the front of my finger from about midpoint around the side to my nail.
Any who, it was healing up just fine and I started hood 2.0 a couple days ago in .060. I have it built, just need to fill, sand, and attach the cowl.
Old hood:

New hood:

... and hood 2.0 is finito. Well, aside from decaling.
Did a little SS mesh insert.
Happy with the results, could have spent more time on it but it's just going to get bashed lol.

Aside from Shoe Gooing in some magnets for mounting, the hood is finished.
Also, my Surface Go 2 seen in the pic also, last weekend I shrunk the partition and installed Pop_OS! in dual boot. Love it! In fact, may not be too long before I go full on Pop.

Got the side decals on, using 3" X 1.75" American flag decals and a CriCut to cut them out. Played around quite a bit with copies of the decals for placement and came out pretty good. CriCut is really a cool device.
Not that I'm constantly working on it, but going off to house sit for a couple weeks so it'll be awhile before I get back to it, still need to do the grill.
Going for a Q/Patriot theme, got the idea from the red chassis and then painting the body white, thus adding the blue.
Here are the decals I used:

Been awhile since I've done anything with this, but got back on it this past weekend and knocked the grill out.
I had been wanting to cut the grill's facia from a single piece of lexan but couldn't come up with an easy way to cut the grill slots w/o having to likely e a take 2 or more.
I ended up cutting aquare pieces of lexan for the ends/headlights and built up the rest with styrene bits I had. I put some SS mesh in the grill slots and used my sister's CriCut to cut the headlight masks and shot it with blue Plasti-Dip.
I may have mentioned previousely, but the halo's are red LEDs, initially bought white, but I also painted the PCBs so they always look red.
I'm happier with the fact that it's done than with how it came out, but I'm content with it.
One thing I didn't take into account is the angle of the bodies headlight area is more stright while the grill itself slants back a bit so the tops of the halos hot on the back top of the grill. Not much, but h I'd considered that previousley. Oh well.
