hey everyone i am new to the whole rock crawling thing and am wondering what would be a good starter truck? I am not looking to spend alot of money right now. just want something i can play around with right now and them when the cash comes in start buy upgrades and modding it.

thanks for any help or suggestions.

1/6th nylint from wally world wheel awsome right out of the box... as far as modding, you can do a little. Some guys are even running them in comps out here. If you want to build an outright comp rig... get a nylint and then slowly start to piece your comp crawler together pice by piece... ive been building my comp rig for over 6 months now... piece by piece. Welcome to the sport!

whats the difference between the TLT Max Climber and the TLT Rock Buster? and which would be better?

so to get the tlt running i need the following parts right?

540 size motor
2 servos
Battery Pack
electronic speed control
Charger

can any one recomend any certain brands or parts?

Most of us run Integy's 55t lathe motors in our TLTs. You only need 1 servo unless you want 4ws. You'll also need a radio (transmitter and reciever). We all ditch the stock TLT transmission, it's belt drive and will start slipping with the diffs locked. Stampede trannies are pretty much the standard tranny. It'll take some custom work on your end to make it fit the stock chassis. Lock all 3 diffs with JB Weld, both axles and the Stampede tranny.

If you really want to get serious..........
Make your own chassis
Stretch the wheelbase to 12 1/2"
Buy some good 2.2 tires and rims, Pro-line's Moabs or Masher 2k
Pick-up a 1/10 scale body
Buy some 4" shocks
You'll need Stampede or Maxx sliders for driveshafts after the wheel base stretch.

There's alot of good info here too......

also whats a good servo?

also does the Complete TQ3 System with Rear Steer Installed from the crawler store come with servos?

That is the motor I was refering to.

You can get the motor and tranny from doubledub, he's a vendor here on RCC. Here's a link to his thread in the Vendors Market.

I use Hitec's 645mg in both my TLTs, I haven't had any problems with them.

The radio from The Crawler Store includes the 3rd channel switch mod and reciever, no servos.

$326 for everything

or i'll get a clodbuster kit, TQ3, Hitec HS-645MG servo and a barttery charger and battery for $337 and just upgrade as I go.

I've also been looking at the E-MAXX to. Not really for rock crawling just something to play with.

what do u think?

That list looks good. You can get away with a cheaper ESC, if you're not going to run 4 wheel steer. I don't think you'd regret buying the Rebel 2, but just a thought.
