Simon: Project Code Name: Fraxialstein

WOW Brian! You didn't waist any time did you:shock: Looking beastly!

Some might consider it AS WASTING TIME... :lmao: Thanks! I'm liking it more and more.

I'm liking it as a 2.2 especially with the Motoworx wheels.

I agree. I just worked a deal to get some more 2.2 Rock Crushers. They're pretty darn awesome tires when you cut them. Thanks for the compliment. "thumbsup"

Picked up some plastruct sheets today. I cut it up and began reinforcing the body. I'll let it cure for 24 hours before I begin 'prettying' it up. :)

I chopped the back of the honcho frame off. I built a cross brace out of some extra frame material and a stock Wraith steering link. Next, I cut up some 'diamond plate' and replaced the bed insert. It's a bit flimsy, so I am going to reinforce it with some heavier gauge plastruct. I also completed my set of cut rock crushers. I'm going to have to build a couple of custom bumpers. Front has major clearance issues. Rear will have a custom, driver offset, spare tire carrier.

Thanks y'all.

I hacked up the front bumper for clearance. I still don't have the steering on. Hopefully my VP Racing Ackerman Arms show up soon! I also reinforced the 'diamond' plate bed. It's MUCH sturdier now. I took a few pictures too. I figured it'd be better than leaving y'all hanging with crappyly lit iPhone pictures. You like that word, don't you... Ha, ha, ha... CRAPPYLY... LOL

I threw together a quick 'axial' studio out of a couple of kit boxes and took these:

Here are the beef tubes that will be going in the front axle:

Here's a good shot of Shon's (R2J) Stainless Steel Links. They are SUPER stout!

And another shot of the R2J Links:

My Krawler Konceptz JK kits will ship with my power tank on the 6th. I could get it sooner, but I'm not in a big hurry. I'll have real headlights then. The bumper has got to go too... it's uber flimsy.

This will all be black in time. The resin I used takes a few days to fully cure. You can see the bed and the reinforced frame well here. I'm likely going to talk to R2J about the bumpers on this too. His shop is close enough that I might try to goad him into some fabrication lessons. (Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge, Shon) ;) I really want to learn how to do some metal fab work. I really enjoyed the brass fabrication when I was working on micros. I'm assuming that some of what I learned there will shorten the learning curve. :)

Nice body idea, but I liked it on SCX axles and 1.9s better. :) What resin did you use on the cage?

Things are coming together. I had to go with some longer, and bent, links for the upper front links. I'm still having slight clearance issues with the drive shaft, so it's looking like Simon will be getting a custom skid plate. Lastly, the Racing Ackerman VP Steering Arms angle in so far that I'm going to be looking at a custom steering link (about 18mm shorter than a standard Wraith Steering Link).

MTHead Derlin Beadlock Rings came in today. They are way cooler than I thought they'd be, and I expected them to be cool... :) The good news, MTHead now has Motoworx Racing Patterns!

The other 2.2 is for my Wraith, Fiona. The ring that is not mounted is a 1.9 for my scale JK.

It's getting close to being finished with the paint. I am going to take the cab, doors and fenders white. It's a much more forgiving color, and Lord knows I'll need forgiveness on my body work. Lexan is a PITB to work with. :p

Just in case anyone noticed... I have a Krawler Konceptz grill en route, which is why I didn't mask or remove the decals from the existing grill. :)

You could call it a "Jeep O" for short. LOL
Very nice! Your son will be proud of it!

Fraxialstein works best. ;-) The front clip is the SCX10 Jeep, the bed, rear of the cab, and the frame are from a honcho, and the axles are (of course) from a wraith. Now I just need some dingo flares, some XR10 wheels, and some scorpion body posts... :lmao:

I have raced for 30 years, now I am starting into crawling, for reason's just like this! I want to do some builds, and enjoy when I go camping or maybe hook up with a local club where I live. "thumbsup"
