Shape Shifter Dakar Rally? opinions sought

Cool...leave it Jang to turn any Traxxas rig into something even better! If your stampede is a 2wd you might want to consider either dropping in a front diff w/the new chassis to convert it to a 4x4 or keep it as is and play with the rear diff fluid til you get that rally handling! There was also some other build on rcdriver where they converted a Stampede 4x4 with a LCG chassis with the XO-1 wheel/tire combo to build a 1/10 on-road 4x4 speed machine...check that out! Let alone the price tag for the custom conversion lol!

Thanks for you input Alex! "thumbsup"
Yikes, a 4x4 speed demon! 8) My stampede is a 4x4 VXL, so this may be a cheap (kinda) way into Rally(?)...

I've always thought of Rally racing as a unique form of auto racing, with a navigator giving turn directions. And since I already own a stampede, why not venture into Rally with this conversion.

Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

Cheers,
T

Anyone else have thoughts on this conversion? Is it something that even makes sense?

Or am I completely crazy?!?!?!????? :???:

anyone???

I don't see how putting different bodies on a rig makes it a conversion. The body is neat and the Stampede has always been a tough platform, but to me it is nothing more then a stampede. Even with that said it is a large improvement over the stock look. If they made the pede looking like this I would probably buy one.

I will say the production quality of the video was nice.

Thanks Turtle,
I think the pede to rally would involve more than just a body swap. Wheels, tires, A-arms, perhaps springs... I think rally is such a cool form of racing. Perhaps my best option would be to sell the pede and buy a DRX or WR8...

I'll most likely wait until spring to make a decision. Our winters are cold n snowy so not much going on outside. Besides I've got a few builds to keep me busy!

Cheers,
Doc

If yours is just collecting dust, I say go for it. Better to have it out where you can enjoy it, and I agree with Ty...it looks way better than stock.

Definately do the conversion. Its the most fun you can have with an RC. I think youll enjoy doing it. Post a thread.

Thanks Trixxx,
Yep - this project has officially made it onto my RC "to do" list!

It'll be a little while before I get going, as I've got three other builds I'm currently working on but I can at least start to acquire parts.

Cheers,
Doc
