Shakemandril builds Dlux, Superlite Bounty Hunter

Getting the thread started here so I can start adding pictures. The build is well underway but I do have some pictures to add in. I was originally going to build an AMX and had been collecting parts for it. I needed something different. Having tried the Remedy on XR axles because everyone else was doing it, I learned my lesson. Do it my own way! I never did get the Remedy where I wanted it to be.

Fast-forward a year and I'm still driving my Secret Agent (which I love) but it just needs too much upkeep (money!) to justify. I got my ass kicked by Hittman at the NM State Comp this year and he called us all out to do better. My rig did well enough to net 4th but I was behind by well over 100 points. My shocks were toast and the rig just wouldn't sidehill with the big boys so something had to be done!

I had already ordered my superlites before the comp and they showed up the day I left for the State Championship. Luckily, I had bought some raffle tickets and I won a few picks and the Dlux Bounty Hunter was on the table. I had fallen in love with the looks and it's capability on the videos online. I decided to snatch it up along with some Dravtech wheels and RCBros shock cups. HUGE THANK YOU to all of the sponsors from that comp, it was amazing!

Hundreds of dollars later, here I sit with superlites, bounty hunter, loaded dice weights and wheels and lot's of work ahead.I chose sidewinders, brood chaos and big bores to hold it all up. Pics soon! "thumbsup"

I am really stoked when somebody uses the parts at a giveaway, my parts or others!

Cant wait for this to come together and hear your thoughts. Hittman is going down! LOL

Looking forward to seeing this build, great parts I think you'd like the Holmes Hobbies br- minis way better the the sidewinders.... I know I do.. sidewinders seem to lack on power compared to the br- minis at least it seemed that way to me.. good luck with your new rig.

Hittman told me the same thing. I know a few drivers that complain about a glitchy, jerky feel so that was part of my decision. If I came across a used set for a good price I would probably try them but for now, sidewinders have been good to me.

Its been a couple weeks but I finally got a few free hours to finish up my axles and mock up the chassis. I also smashed my sidewinder micro 2's. I still need to order my holmes servo and get some narrowed tires.

Anyone have any advice on the shock/link mount angles and spacing? Still need to drill/tap, my plan was to set wheelbase and tap there but I'm unsure.

You should take your link mounts off pre drill and tap a hole in the top and on the bottom. this will let you use a set screw in the link mount to hold in in place while you drill and tap the holes in the tubes.

I hope that makes sense.

Looking great man. Curcal's advice is spot on. I didn't do it that way to start and it was quite difficult.

Way to score a New Mexico build jig too. Don't see them in photos to often. We're there some 3D printed parts that came with it? They are supposed to mount onto the axle at the back where it slides in the slots.

Good luck with the build, can't wait to see it in the rocks

Brian there were two blue pieces. I haven't setup the jig before so I have been eyeballing it. I need to do some research on proper setup. Also, thanks for supporting our hobby! I was fortunate and scored some awesome stuff at that comp thanks to all the great vendors!

Progress....kinda! Holmes SHV500 ordered, Voodoos ordered, egressor shocks ordered, Krawler Konceptz skins ordered! Im getting excited to run this bad boy.

Finished up the rig and popped the cherry at West Coast Shootout. Had a few issues that held me back a lot but overall the rig seems promising.
