Seriously, why are Libs against guns and their owners?

As are alcohol, drugs, knives, vehicles, baseball bats, brass knuckles, machetes, rebar, hammers, glass bottles, steroids, etc. All these increase a person's ability to do harm.

Absolutely, but only a few of them were created for that purpose. People are imaginative and will find all kinds of ways to do bad things, but the most efficient tools are those designed for the task at hand.

I'm not trying to shift blame, I'm putting it right where it belongs, the killer. Its obvious from your posts you would rather blame everything/everyone but the guy who did the killing. Typical leftist tactic that really has gotten old.

Meh. He wasn't right in the head. That wasn't his fault. His mom knew that, but still taught him how to handle deadly weapons AND kept them where he could get to them. That was her fault.

I know a guy comparable to Lanza (minus the mass killing). Very smart, but very poor judgement and a certain amount of disconnectivity to regular human emotion. No way no how should he be allowed to gain any familiarity whatsoever with a firearm.

A lot of "allegedly" slung around there.

Also Breitbart, the harbinger of far right bullshit.

Yeah I know its always someone elses fault.

I would have thought those two liberal sources saying the same thing would have canceled out Breitbart. But liberals only see what they want to see, as exhibited here. Don't know crap about what they are talking about (even when shown proof proving them wrong) but always willing to tell you how things should be.:ror:

Talk about seeing what you want to see. :ror:

They all said the same thing. He "thought" she was "allegedly" going to commit him. Unless you've got hard evidence, that is nothing but rumor.

Still, motive doesn't matter. She taught him how to shoot and kept weapons where he could get to them. That should never have happened. She was well aware of his issues.

I can't find any documentation of the filed conservator ship, not surprising because they usually stay internal. Wouldn't matter anyway, you will come up with some other excuse to dismiss it. That is how liberals roll.

If you forget to take your keys out of your car and someone steals it and mows over a bunch of people its entirely your fault then by your logic. I know guys that have gotten they entire safes stolen from their house, a safe that was bolted down. But its good to know you are so perfect and nothing could ever happen to you."thumbsup"

There would have been at least a handful of people involved, and some family members too. So far, with what I've seen (more than what you posted btw), it's all unsubstantiated and third/fourth party hearsay. Possible, but unsubstantiated.

Doesn't really matter any more though, does it?

Apples to oranges. Try again.

I've personally housed and cared for a mentally unstable family member. You would not believe the lengths that we went to to protect them and us from harm. Not showing them where the guns were and how to use them was at the top of the list.

I thought it mattered since you were the one so interested in arguing otherwise. You are more than welcome to post some of your "what I've seen".

No it really is not apples to oranges. Looks its obvious you don't know much about guns or what SOP is when they are in the house. (PS you are not the only one with experience with mental illness here) Obviously the kid was was more stable when she bought the guns and taught the kid. When there are guns in the house it is prudent to teach the other person how to handle them properly, safety rules, etc and it is best to have some range time doing so. Obviously someone living in the same house is going to know where the guns are and if you look enough or try enough someone can get at them eventually, even if locked up. I don't know if you actually can't comprehend this or just want to argue as per usual.

Motive doesn't really matter because he and his mother are dead. If she wanted to commit him, he solved that problem by killing her and himself.

SOP concerning the mentally deficient/deranged and firearms is to keep them as far apart as possible. They are unpredictable and relatively more likely to cause harm to themselves or others. They have laws addressing that sort of thing, and even if a person hasn't been officially on record as being committed or diagnosed, a little bit of common sense goes a long ways.

Otherwise, if we were discussing regular, reasonably sound minded people, I would agree with you. My son knows how to safely carry and shoot a pistol, and I felt that it was important that he should know. He's also not 6 slices short of a loaf...

If Lanza was becoming more unstable (all indicators say he was), steps should have been taken. Change the locks, move the keys, take some of the weapons out of the house, etc etc. I understand that it is hard to see when you are that close to someone, but safety should always be paramount, for everyones sake.

They are and they aren't. They increase a persons ability to do harm, even though they are incapable of doing harm by themselves. They aren't the source of the problem, but they are certainly woven into it.
Guns are tools. It's as simple as that.

Do they increase a person's ability to do harm? Sure they do, but so do lots of other items that are more readily available and more easily accessible.

Do we blame cars when they're used to purposely kill? Nope.
Do we blame crock pots when they're turned into bombs? Nope.
Do we blame knives for stabbings? Nope.

All of the above things have been used in mass killings.

Do we blame the rope when people hang themselves? Nope.
Do we blame the hammer for hitting our hand instead of the nail? Nope.
Do we blame food when a child chokes and dies? Nope.

But "we" blame guns for suicides and the children that are shot to death.

I don't blame guns, I blame the idiots that misuse them. However, it's much harder to regulate idiots.

Guns are tools. Tools specifically designed to kill or main. Everything else you listed is not.

You may not blame guns, but there are lots of morons that do.

It's difficult and often impossible to prevent an idiot from killing. It's extremely easy to prevent them from doing it again. The problem is our society wants to rehabilitate everybody. Killers, in my opinion, aren't rehabilitatable nor do they deserve the chance. We also have a horrible penal system that has allowed and continues to allow killers to walk free and kill again. Some kill again within hours of being released. This just goes back to the fact that we can't enforce the laws we currently have on the books which is why new laws, gun related or not, are laughable.

The idiots that blame guns for killing are the same dumb asses that want "hot" warnings on coffee and "sharp" warnings on knives.

For-profit prison systems have no desire to rehabilitate anyone. They aren't there for the public good, they are there to make a buck.

It matters not the intended use of the tool. You can cause as much if not much more damage with a vehicle mowing down folks downtown than with any semi-auto gun. And vehicles are by far much easier to "get a hold of" than a firearm. Yet, vehicles are "intended" for transportation.

There is zero logic behind the hate for guns. There is only ignorance and misinformation. It's as much an agenda as anything on the planet ever has been.

Let's try to keep this discussion semi-civil!

I read stories like the following, a lot. I usually refrain from posting "political" stuff here but, dammit! I'm tired of our rights being stepped on.

There would be nationwide rioting if the gov imposed a $200 tax on free speech or voting, but if it's a firearm accessory, we're expected to accept it like they're GIVING us something!

Sorry, this is mostly due to the hassle I'm going through to buy a silencer that I made, myself! Just makes me mad.

I read your entire post there Bud. And my only real thought was, "sweet, he made his own silencer". I like that. Remember tho you and I live the most dangerous states for gun related deaths or whatever..."thumbsup"

I don't care what liberals think about my scary guns. Just Like I don't want to sit down and watch "The View" with them. And kiss a picture of Hillary each night before bed. You know?
