I searched but didn't find anything that addressed this issue.

First battery (charged) and about 10 minutes into driving it around, first on pavement then on my 1/10 rock course, reverse starts to surge/jerk- almost like its getting partial throttle. Everything else works fine- lights, steering, forward. Took the battery out and recharged it to hopefully eliminate that as an issue, worked the first time I used reverse, then each time after was super glitchy/jerky.

Anything I should be looking at?

Kind of bummed, had the thing all of 10 minutes and it's not working properly.

I'd check to see that the throttle switch was in the high position, I would even switch it to low and back to high. Try rebinding the tx & rx instructions should be in the manual. Might also want to take a video of it doing it and contact Horizon for warranty support.

I would cont customer support as well. They have replaced our chargers a couple times. They are pretty fickle.
