Just picked up my old Deadbolt and ran it around. It's fun, but I want more performance.

What's the secret sauce to really make it crawl slowly? I'm considering a motor and gears, but then I'd also consider a full tear down and rebuild.

What's the state of the art on these little rigs?

A Furitek ESC and brushless motor will certainly make it slow crawl . I haven’t gotten into that realm myself as of yet . I have used underdrive gears to get a better slow crawl .

I don’t have any experience with the deadbolt V1 ESC . I have V2 ESC (Blue) and it’s great . The newest SCX24 Spectrum 2in1 ESC is terrible for slow crawl .

My next project most likely be a deadbolt .

The SCX24 v1 electronics is terrible for slow crawl. The best solution is to get a Furitek Lizard Pro esc, it will vastly improve the slow crawl and is adjustable with the App, be sure and get one with the Bluetooth dongle. The bonus is that it's both brushed and brushless.

Thanks for the furitek suggestion. I just watched a 3 minute video where the guy explained what it is, installed it, tweaked a couple settings in the app and crawled it across his desk. It's slow! And that was with the stock motor. I see they have some options for that, too.

This is gonna get expensive.

As other said the furitek is a good Esc, also castle creations has a nano mamba esc thats pretty solid and small. I would look at doing the overdrive transmission while your swapping motor, steal transmission gears are a must [emoji1306]
