Grabbed this Scx24 and it’s my first. Had a miniz 4wd that I threw some parts at but didn’t perform anywhere close to this gladiator stock.

Here’s where it all started. Stock is ~271g and front has ~45% of the weight:
FL 59g FR 62g
RL 76g RR 74g

Here’s with 9g wheel weights on the front scales, ~288g:
FL 67g FR 71g
RL 76g RR 74g

-removed the roof tent
-shifted battery towards the center of the chassis (had to remove the interior for space)
-replaced Velcro with magnets glued in, sits a bit lower and closes the bumper gap

Weight is now ~260g, 54% Front:
FL 71g FR 73g
RL 58g RR 58g

Next is likely an emax digital servo. I have the Proline Hyrax wheels but they’re bead lock wheels so wheel weights wouldn’t fit so holding off on installing them for now. Proline tires are nice and soft though.

thanks!

this is my first scx24 chassis and it's amazing stock compared to a miniz 4wd. what would you like to see Axial do next with electronics?

I haven't ran this chassis much, but I'm not seeing much I'd like to do other than tightening up the steering and suspension along with softer tires.

I have not run the new one yet, but from the reviews I’ve watched, I would like to see them get away from the all in one Receiver/ ESC combo, a more powerful motor and address the underpowered servo that has been an issue from the get go.

I completely understand that it is a decent rig for the price point, but I would have gladly paid a little more for my original SCX24 with better electronics.

I still love my little rig, but it is far from stock, well it will be after this next round of mods "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Great start!

You should totally skip the brass weights and just fill your bead locks with 20-40 grams of lead BB’s. Better performance, cheaper, and you can dial in the weight instead of just slapping a chunk of brass on it. Brass is OVERRATED!!! Save your $$. 👍

Stopped being lazy and installed the proline wheels and tires with the front weighted with ~11g of plumbing solder I had laying around. Also, swapped the front and rear springs since most of the weight is in front now. Removed the foam inserts and drilled holes to vent the tires

Just got a replacement battery and charger (older style) from Horizon Hobby as a warranty replacement. First battery wasn't charging and was discharged to 4.0V. I must have left it on overnight and over discharged it.

Any input on which charger I should use? new or old style? Older charger seems to charge at a higher rate:

Take everything off from the bed. It lovers CG. I could tell the difference with my c10, with the roll bar and without it. Fell much easier with the roll bar on.

Total weight with new servo is about 270g:
FL 75g FR 76g
RL 62g RR 56g

56% of the of the weight in front.
