Will axial ever discontinue this beast? I purchased a trail honcho about a week ago and I'm in love. That being said I'm in awe at the vast array of upgrades for this truck. My only hang up is I dont want to drop a ton of $ into it and it be discontinued. And if it were to be discontinued, would parts still be available?

Dont think this plattform will go anywhere soon.
Its the most popular scaler rig out there.

I think you confusing the body style discontinuing as the scx10 model as a whole. The bodies discontinued (but you can still get em everywhere) and the chassis is going nowhere ever lolll unless axial has financial suicide plans in play

So all the scx-10 models parts are interchangeable? Basically if the honcho were discontinued I could still get parts just as easily for it?

...an SCX-10 chassis is an SCX-10 chassis.

...regardless of which body is purchased or set atop it.

The chassis and hardware purdy much remain the same.

Doubt Axial would discontinue the SCX-10 chassis
as that really is their bread n butter.
Well... at least until they engineer something better in replacement.

If the Honcho becomes discontinued...
it's likely that Axial stops producing that particular body.
They are after all... more into Jeep licensed products

There have been other Axial SCX-10 bodies
that have been discontinued in the past...

The 2 door Wrangler Jeep being one of them.

But the venerable SCX-10 chassis platform
has changed only slightly over the years.

And that was based on hardware design changes...
not the primary chassis design.

----------------

of course... nothing is forever.

But investing into an SCX-10 chassis
should ensure a continued life support...
at least longer then most any other mfgr's/supplier's out there.

And then...
even if it were discontinued...

There will be millions of other used rigs still out there...
and so...

There will tons of used parts available
for years to come.

Because of it's popularity...
I doubt the SCX-10 chassis disappears completely.

And even if Axial dropped the line...
usually one of the smaller mfgr's
will purchase the assembly rights...
and reproduce it under a different brand name.

IMO... choosing the SCX-10 platform/chassis
is probably a good call.

enjoy "thumbsup"

Well the MRC was discontinued 3 years ago and I can still find parts....some new and some used but they are still out there.

Yeah sorry about the title I just didn't wanna make it really long. But I guess I'm gunna be "that guy" anyways haha. Regardless i appreciate the fast responses, I just didn't wanna go dumping my hard earned cash into all these fancy upgrades to have it be impossible to replace broken parts. I guess what had me concerned was hearing that they discontinued the kit, and I figured the trucks days where numbered as a whole!:(

Simply said: It would be commercial suicide to stop making the SCX10 based Rc's, unless they have a real goo alternative. Imo, discontinuing the XR10 was a bad move and i really believe there's a gap in the market still where Losi is that smart to come with the LNC V2.0.
There's still things on the SCX that might be improved factorywise. But, i also guess it would take the fun away if they did. I may be wrong, but the Scx is a first step into the crawler/scaler hobby for many amongst us.
But worst case scenario: if they would decide to stop tomorrow. There's loads and loads of parts all over the world for us to build a complete scx for the years to come :)

Ok so the honcho I will available as an rtr just not as a kit correct?

Yes, the Honcho RtR is still available and so is the body, with and/or without the cage. The Honcho kit and early Honcho RtR have been discontinued for a while. Maybe someone should check with the manufacture at some point. Axial Racing - Products and Accessories

Discontinued kits and RtR's are usually in the "Legacy" section at the bottom of the "Vehicles" drop down menu. They usually have the word "Discontinued" where a price would normally reside.

Axial SCX10 Honcho 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR

Axial Trail Honcho Truck Body - .040" uncut (Clear) w/Molded Rear Cage

Axial Trail Honcho Truck Body - .040" uncut (Clear) - Body Only

Axial SCX10 - 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD Truck - RtR w/Trail Honcho Body

Axial SCX10 - 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD Truck - Kit w/Trail Honcho Body

To be honest the only differences I can see are that the legacy has aluminum links, and beadlocks. And I'm assuming its a kit. Just clarifying , so axial Is still making just the honcho body's to be sold separately correct, or can they only be found on eBay and what not?

My first used SCX10 was a Legacy Series. It was the 50's style Chevy/GMC,

That was a 11.4'' inch wheel base and had aluminum links and silver Axial bead locks with green rings just like the one there web site in the Legacy section

I have since changed it to a 12.3'' wheel base and now is a Toyota Truggy with XL TSL's and RC4WD steel bead locks, I have the unpainted Chevy/GMC body from the kit, and the bead locks are on one of my other r/c's

I just looked on the Axial site its called the SCX10 Kustom Retro, the only difference is the wheel base and the links are aluminum
