Primer applied. I'm going for a reverse aged look. Rather than start out day one with a rusty "old" truck, I'm hoping that the rust will come through as the body receives damage.

I applied a texture to the shell to mimic the real thing. I might hit this with a light sand paper to knock down the high points. I'm also planning on hitting it with the white primer, to even out the white.

Bam! Poppin! This is an automotive paint replica of the Lime Green Metallic that was available for these Blazers.

Inspiration.

I still need to wet sand the color, apply another layer [more paint on order since this took my entire can] and then comes the clear coat layers(s).

I like your idea of letting the rust come through as the truck is used.

I see way too many rusted paint jobs to appreciate them anymore. Weathered and rust is a lazy mans way of finishing a truck, or an avoidance of a lot of work completing a nice paint job.

if you want rust to come through as its used, mix some iron powder into the first couple coats of paint, then when its scratched and gets wet it will rust and run down (stain) as normal vehicles do....
