Anyone else snag the after Christmax RedCat Deal on the RDS Drift kit or the rtr?
The kit is usually 229 (maybe 219) and was on sale before Christmas for 119. I passed though it was hard.
on the 26th, they made the sale at 99.99 for the kit. Couldn't say no to that.
So through Jan I ordered the RDS upgrades from RedCat, and a few other items. Already have a Reefs 299LP from a drag build I've never ran that can go into it. and a 9.5 V2 MMR motor from Maclan Racing. Will either get their new Drift ESC, or pick up a nib but no disco'd MMax Pro 160a ESC a buddy has. That ESC will be a match to the MMRv2 motor and be way cheaper as it has never been fired up and my buddy wants a 12ga to go duck hunting with. lol

But anyways, grabbed the Reefs gyro for it, some wheels and tires and a body I posed in the lastest purchase thread over the last month, and I started the build last night doing a live stream on Youboob with my buddy JBs Garage.
Woke up this morning and jumped back on the build once the chickens and ducks were fed and I had a few cups of coffee down.

So there is not much as far as build pics, but I did record both builds in youboob live, so they're on my channel and I'll post them up here in the next comments after the pic porn of the shit going into the build.

Got the wheels partially assembled. They have adjustable offsets and I want to be sure they're right before I finish them up.

Tonight I tackled the shocks and got them installed.

Also used a cf battery tray I got with the LCG Lil Gashia build and mounted on the upper deck to lift the COG to get that body roll going on... Hopefully.

Looking good! Going with the high mounted motor you get the same thing in the rear. The battery up top gets you the front going too.

Are you going to run the 8200mah too?

If I can clear the rear window without cutting it, that is my ultimate plan. ESC on the back plate.
But there is always the chance of the battery going to the far back and the esc just in front of the tranny on the main deck.

Unsure on what pack I'll run. Have lots of 2s options from 5000-the 8200s. Also have some 3s I may like to try...
Zoom Zoom. lol

Kinda wish I had gotten the kit when it was on sale for $99.
I was able to resist at the 119 b4 xmas.
but 99 was the go number. lol

Got the ESC for the build.
Maclan MMax Pro 160a. Match for the V2 MMR 9.5t I have in the RDS.
Once I get it installed and programmed, she's ready for the body, which I still need to pick up a magnetic body mount for it.
I'll get on the body this weekend between snows. Gonna get 3-6 tomorrow then 1-3 tomorrow night and again on Sunday so I may end up having to go into work twice this weekend to take care of snow.
But the body will be trimmed and I already have a really good idea what I am doing with it.
Basically Flat Black Murdered out.

Also got a SMC Battery I can use in this and other rigs.
Got these from a buddy selling some stuff so a good deal was had, well should be had once I sell the other stuff I don't want. lol

ESC and motor soldered up. Need to adjust the settings.
Servo and Gyro Installed, still need to setup the Gyro.

Body is trimmed and now is masked ready for some paint.
Will be going blacked out (murdered out for the most part) and the outside will get some heavy Matte Clear to make it all flat black looking. Will be doing some masking for the matte finish to allow a few things to shine through the rest of the matte finish.

Need to get some body mount magnets and figure out a slick low profile way to get them to fit the body as low as It can be.

Do i see some rear wheel poke?
Guess I'm unsure what you are referring to.

On the down note. Went to do some ESC Programming last night and plugged the ****** in backwards to the battery. GRRR>
Now I need another ESC. Fuggme running sideways through the woods. lol smfh.

Got ahold of Maclan Racing and while the ESC was out of warranty (and discontinued) they were happy to trade it in with 148.00 (8 was shipping) and send me a brand new ESC.
They were even willing to send me the new Drift Spec ESC they are now producing and just released about a month ago.

So not all was lost.

Body got painted. Still need to peal the outer cover and matte finish it for a flat black look.
If this outer covering wouldn't get all torn up, I would leave it as it looks great with it on for flat sheen IMO.
