Hi. I am somewhat new to rc and just got myself a redcat gen 8. I'm trying to swap out the transmitter and reciever to a traxxas Tqi. I am not to sure how to calibrate the remote now and right now my throttle is on the steering wheel and the steering in the trigger. Any advice?

Update I swapped the wires on the reciever and that seemed to fix my problem but the traxxas reciever is constantly blinking red. Is this a problem?

Very true, thank you. I am noticing a lack in speed though is that normal?

I watched rc Review's video on "best redcat racing gen8 upgrades" and in the video he said that the stock controller is not good and gives a jerky motion when you try to drive slowly and not the full turn radius. He suggested swapping the controller out with anything and in the video he shows a traxxas transmitter. I had a traxxas tqi controller and reciever lying around so I figured why not.

Blinking red on a Traxxas receiver usually means a lipo battery running out of juice.
Is the receiver set to whatever type of battery you're using (lipo or nimh/nicad)?

It appears you have it figured out, but steering is 1, and esc is 2 on the Traxxas receiver. Some Traxxas receivers have two #1 slots for steering.

Thank you so much. Yes I am using a lipo battery. I am not sure if my reciever is set to lipo or not.

When the ESC is turned on and you're ready to go, is the LED red or green?
Red is for nihm/NiCad.
Green is for lipo

Ooops, I misread your earlier post that the RECEIVER is blinking red. I read it as your ESC...
Sorry about that

FWIW-here's a YT video about fixing a blinking red light on Traxxas receivers. Hope it helps.
