Getting everything together for my next build and want to do a light kit.

I have this RC4WD Light Controller: https://www.amainhobbies.com/rc4wd-4-channel-wireless-remote-light-controller-rc4ze0093/p695610

I would rather not run the lights off of my main 2S, so I was thinking about getting a small 1S Lipo. I know the LED kit I want will plug in the light controller, so I'm good there.

My question is, can I plug a 1S Lipo with a JST connector directly into the light controller without over-volting it?

Battery: https://www.amainhobbies.com/spektr...st-connector-3.7v-800mah-spmx8001s30/p1224456

Operating voltage for that controller is listed at 6V - 9V so a 4.2V 1S probably wouldn't have enough juice to even turn the lights on.

You could plug in a 2S directly though.

Why not just run this off the same battery? Run times aren't effected that much with LEDs because (as mentioned above) they dont draw that much.

Solder one in? I mean either way you're soldering up and adapter or soldering in a JST to the ESC.

Which plug? are you still on the Traxxas one?
You may be able to find an inline adapter that adds in a JST, like this https://www.amazon.com/Female-line-power-Connector-Adapter/dp/B015GNG9PK
but I have a feeling you may not find these for a traxxas plug.

EDIT: wait the 1080 uses a xt60 so that link should have what you'd need if you go that route.

Where would I solder one in? The battery wire? I'm using the Traxxas connector on the 1080.
