Just picked up a Bomber, super excited.
So What I'd like is to set up the Bomber so it has a good balance between crawling and rock ...... *sigh* racing.
Now let me paint a picture:
- My friend has a Twin Hammers he's done a couple of mods to fix the front end and ditch the cantilever setup.
- I LOVE how smooth it is over rough terrain, it just glades over gaps and absorbs most things in the way. But I do realize this is partly due to it's weight and due to the IFS
- The TH also crawls like crazy, the low CG makes it wonderful for a lot of smooth crawling
- Ultimately I like the Bomber a lot more, I was considering the Rock Rey but got a killer deal on the Bomber I couldn't pass up.
I typically do crawling and trails. I'm not super aggressive and I don't "bash" hard. But I like the idea of having the speed for fun in trails in that rock racing fashion. (There are no U4 tracks near me so I'm not even considering that)
First I know I need to watch the CG to keep the nose up, I was also considering a light rear sway bay, seems there are mixed opinions for this when using for crawling and I get why, so maybe a light sway will help.
What other suggestions might you have to balance?
- Suspension
- Weight
- CG
etc.
What about IFS, or is this just a waste of time/money?
Side notes:
- Ordered the Holmes hobby 550 motor for it, I think 27t. I figure this will allow for more torque application but still have speed.
- CI single stage foams (will get tires and new wheels later)
- Ordered links and a servo for it as well.
- I have a wraith that's dedicated 100% to slow crawling. It's been a fun build so far. Which is why I wanted something more balanced.
