PC can not connect to ESC

Hello

This is my first post in years here. And I need help!
As the title says i can not in any way make my pc communicate with any of my ESCs.
First I thought it was because of the new brand of ESCs(9imod), so i tried my trusty Holmes ESCs, that used to connect just fine before.(Before i changed the motherboard of my PC i think, not completely shure of the timeline...) And anyway, it was impossible to get the holmes ESCs to communicate as well.
The error message i get is: No or bad ack from ESC/No or bad ack from IF.
Ive tried different USB-cables, all of them work just fine for sending info from my phone to the pc and back.
Ive tried pretty much all my USB-ports, with the same result.
Ive installed VCP-drivers recomended by the maker of the ESC(9imod), even though i didnt need any before.
I tried a friends Laptop as well, no luck there either.
Right now im kind of questioning my own sanity here, did i just dream that everything worked just fine before?
Has anyone here had this issue and solved it?
Because i cant find anything online about these specific error messages.

The only issue I've run into is a cable that wasn't compatable with programming AM32 ESC's, I assume the 9imod is AM32? This cable worked fine for other tasks but not programming for some reason.

Do you need to power on the ESC to get it to connect maybe?

Is the serial port showing up when you try to connect? Its usually COM3 I think but it might vary from system to system.

Agree. Com Port (Communication Port is incorrect on the cpus.

Thre is a box that us generally at the bottom of the program box when you first open the programers, and it is generally defaulted to COM1. Move that to COM3 and try that.

The cable being able to transfer data but not compatible with programing AM32s sounds like the best clue to what might be wrong so far, thanks, im going to look into that! (Yes the 9imod is an AM32)
I did power on the ESC, and chose the correct com-port, its 4 or 5, depending wich USB-socket i plug it into on my PC. Im going to try a few of the USBs directly on the motherboard(bak side) again in a few minutes. Like a mad man, trying the same thing over and over, expecting different results...

Edit: Ok i feel stupid now. I read some where that the "Direct connect" option was only for communicating with airduinos and such, so i didnt have it checked. Once i checked that everything worked...

So, pay attention to details folks, Holmes clearly has it checked in his video...
