After all these years, I wanted to see what all the HYPE was about MOA ;-)
So I Bought "Rock Hard's" used Berg axles

Being a "Shafty" guy From way back and owning a Shafty Web Site I am a bit Shy, but it will be interesting to get into MOA.
Winter is here and I want to hang with the Michigan RC Clan "MiRcA"
So, with the help & Push of a few good friends (Happy Birthday farmer ;-))
I think things will be just fine.....

"Rock Hard" had spent plenty of money (Back in the day) on these axles for sure......
And I could really see the use on them, so it was time to clean them up.
I took everything apart to find some RC Bro's Lockers, Super 300's, milled hardened gears (Unknown)
and "Egressor" knuckles and weights.....WOW

Erik D-Lux just sent me my TI Links to attach to the CF BJV4 chassis
I love the look of "Vodka Child's" Build so I will be modeling my build after his
Since I am a KYOSHO authorized dealer, I will be using the KYOSHO Velvet coated shocks
with "JeepinDougs" Cups and Mini-T springs as "JermeyH" does (My Hero) !!

Some Picks as I start disassembly. Cleaning & Polishing everything

Looks sweet Rick, that chassis looks framiliar8) You will be very happy I'm sure. See ya tomorrow. Give me a call too so I know when to swing in.

Later,
Farmer

Thanks Hulksta & Farmer ;-)

As I put this thing together and see how everything Flows, I now see why you guys like
the Berg axles over the Bully and XR-10
I think I'm going to enjoy driving this rig as I already enjoy working on it !!

Just Mocking things up before I Paint and install electronics

"Rock Hard's" axles may have had all the internal mods But Not the standard Shave and Cut
So I thought i would give it a try and to my surprise, I did a pretty good job

Now its time to disassemble it all and Paint and install electronics

XJFarmer is coming over tomorrow to help me with setup and Tweaking

Cant wait to run this rig

Looking good.

Looks like maybe you have the upper links reversed? Try putting the rears on the front and the fronts on the rears.

One thing i would advise doing is machine down the front tubes and fit ax10 alloy chubs to clock in some castor... or cheap n simple redrill and clock the stock tubes... other than that you loaded for some fun times:mrgreen:

Sweet ride!!!!
Is your front right shock hitting the gear box?
If not how are keeping it from hitting?
When I run my Big Bores upside down I hit my gear box..It looks like your is doing the same.

Rig looking good there man, i love my Kyosho Velvet coated shocks, for me the best shocks i've ever ran, so smooth through the full cycle, Great with the Losi mini-t springs.

Subscribed and look forward to seeing the rig develop 8)

I love the Egressor knuckles and weights but since the 300's are not being produced
I'm scared they might break and wont be able to replace them
Future plans are to go with the "HighlandCrawler" XR-10 mod (pre ordered the CVD's) and buy some "D Lux" tubes ;-)

No, No.....
My KYOSHO shocks are not hitting
I run a 1/4" spacer and stock ball ends at the Chassis
and stock KYOSHO ball ends at the lower mount
Leaves about 3mm at full articulation "thumbsup"

Rick truck looks great. Can't wait to have you come down to a MiRCa event again so I can see this truck.

For the Super 300s a few places had them in stock (Hobbytown - PM R2theICKY) when i was looking, took a bit of digging and ended up finding 3 or 4 places that had them in, I picked up a spare set as a 'just in case' measure. Pretty sure SDS will carry on making these, there is a ton of demand.

The D-Lux axle tubes are awesome, the amount of customization in terms of link pick up placement, caster and so forth means you can't go wrong. Whatever you end up with from Erik you'll be pleased with "thumbsup"

Looks like you've made a very nice start. Can't wait to see what else you've come up with. I really hope to see some of your TF building skill transferred over to this build"thumbsup"

Cheers

I cant wait either......
Have a lot to learn from you MOA Guru's ;-)

Hmmm....
Well that is good news
I cant remember the thread but it seems some ppl are miss informed
as they were saying that 300's are no longer available.....
If I find that thread again I will spread the word

I dont think my lack of driving skill will ever break them but for that 'just in case' measure "thumbsup"

Thanks

LOL....Thanks Aussie
Not to much I could come up with for these already moded axles
as there are so many aftermarket goodies for these axles.
I will learn how to drive a MOA first before I start thinking out of the box ;-)

No real Updates
Just finished the Shave on the rear axle
Man.....4 hours polishing each axle, Burnt the fingerprints off my fingers :lmao:

Had a blast hanging out with Farmer yesterday
he gave me some helpful hints "thumbsup"

Some Eye Candy pic's
from my cell phone

SDS in the Ti-Fighters thread in the Berg section put this the other day when someone questioned if 300s would ever been seen again:

There are far to many people waiting for them to not make them again. When the machinist is back from whereever, I will be talking with him. After which I may need to start looking for another place to build 300's. Well see though

Should give some comfort that they'll be around. Plus those that are already out in stock with vendors "thumbsup"
Cheers

great job on the axles, i like the way they turned out! did you make the upper links yourself or buy them pre-bent? I'm using all-thread for now and need something stronger.

Nice work on the truck. I certainly like working on my berg better. Although my XR drives better, and I like the fact that the axles slide night and day better on the rocks. But when I break something, I don't like how much I have to take apart to fix it.

I was gunna say, the HighlandCrawler universals we(HighlandCrawler and myself) have been working on would be a good option. You could get more steering out of em. They will be available on my site before too long. I am working on berg tubes with the 8* chubs built in, so there is no worry about them coming lose. But that is a ways out still. But the 300's are nice, and I doubt you will break em anytime soon. So you shouldn't worry. I never had problems with the ones I have had in the past.

The felsenfest knuckles are pretty tits. My only complaint with them, is that you have to locktite the piss out of the hardware if you don't want crap coming lose. Which is not that big of a deal really.

Thank you.....

Upper and Lower links are TI from "Erik D Lux"
This is the first time running TI links, and I have to say
"I will probably never run "Delrin" again" ;-)

Thanks Chris
I was thinking of making some super thin "Delrin" skids to wrap around the
bottom of the axle tubes ;-)

I did already Pre-Order some of the HighlandCrawler universals
and look forward to getting them.
XJFarmer and a few others have broken their 300's in the past, so that
was my concern, but I doubt my driving skills are that aggressive (YET )

I am going to stick with what I have and learn how to drive first
and then move into some different axles with a degree for caster ;-)

Cant wait to see what you come up with "thumbsup"

Thanks for all your advice

Best Regards V8
