I have had most of these parts since 2010, the motor even longer, so it's finally time to make a rig out of them.
Parts:
AX10 axle housings with a steel truss/servo/batt .mount
original steel beef tubes from when I was selling them
Super 300 CVD's
Hot Racing C's
Vanquish 0 ack knucks
RC bros weights? not sure on brand,
some Ti rear axles from Oz
Vanquish SLW's
Vanquish XR-10 gearbox trans
Big Bore shocks
OG 10 turn puller
2mm carbon elect. plate
BXR esc
CC BEC
7955 servo @7.4v
3S 850 mah battery
Spektrum rec.
My copy of an old Fawver chassis in 1/16" 7075
Alum and Ti links

probably my favorite type of crawler...
Love the Vanquish wheels and Rovers! wish Vanquish still made 2.2 wheels in a proper style
Also very intrigued by that electronics mount! Awesome idea, just a piece of carbon bolted to the skid?

Yes, just inletted a small portion at the front of the skid, couple of flat heads to hold it.

Decided to change motors, puller is cool but heavy, wanted to go back to another old favorite, the JPH 37 turn. These were awesome back in the day, these and the 35 turns worked great in the Berg rigs.

Also shown is the little "foot" to mate the trans to the skid.

Small but important:

Just a little adapter

Now just have to wire it up.

Awesome! I'm currently building a rig in a similar fashion, and I already have to rebuild the skid. I'm for sure planning (now) on taking your mount idea and running with it! Well done! Finished product came out great

I won't be up here for a few weeks, but when I get back I'll start on a new carbon chassis to try

Ok, back up to the fab cabin. So this new chassis will use mostly the same geometry, will move closer to a 60/40 setup, smaller skid, a bit more link clearance. Starting materials are 2.5mm carbon plates, and a 5/16" (8mm) delrin skid:

Will get started in the morning.

Ok, most of it is done, still have to inlet for elect. plate, and trans mount holes.

Skid about half the size, front part of chassis moved forward 1/2 inch, everything else moved to fit.

New chassis is awesome! Simple lines, no BS... I love it

I hope to build a similar skid someday, the inlet carbon piece is the best idea (crawler wise) I've seen in a very long time!

Thanx, grob

Front done, will have to remake the plate but that's easy, then on to the rear. Lowers are 1/4" 7075, drilled and tapped 4mm. uppers are 4mm 7075 threaded directly for the rod ends.

Ok, new day, let's get this rig done. Ran out of 3/16" rod for the uppers, so used 1/4" for temporary use. So for this chassis, the front was shortened 1/2" (the distance between the front and rear shocks stays the same) about 1 inch was taken out of the skid, and the rear links were lengthened 1 1/2" This roughly achieved a 60/40 setup:

Articulation is more in the rear due to the longer links:

But the front of the rig I think will work fine:

Just for grob, fresh E plate clearanced and ready:
