Hi Folks,

Ok, No questions here at the moment but I am sure I'll have some soon.

My name's Dave and I am new but I've been running an old Venom loaned to me by a friend and I've been having so much fun running on the rocks and trailing with the guys at the club we have at work...

On the down side, the Venom keeps breaking! so, after replacing axle shafts, C-hubs and so on several times, I've decided to get a new rig!!!

I've seen loads of videos on YouTube and read loads of threads and I keep coming back to the Axial Wraith!!!

I love the way it looks and I know it's not the best at everything out there but it is cool and does perform well enough (IMO)

I will be getting one but I need to decide on my setup!

I'll be running it on rocks and doing trails also but motor choice and ESC are going to give me headaches!!!

OK, I know I said no questions ^^^ but I do have one...

Is it too much to swap out the setup between rocks and trails or should I build for good at Trails and OK for rocks or Visa-Versa???

Thanks for reading and I'll keep you posted as and when it comes together.... "thumbsup"

Ok, that was quick! I have another question...

As a Newbie, I am confused by some jargon!!! Lol...

Rock Racer, Rock Basher??? What does it all mean??? Is there an idiots guide on all of the different types of rigs???

Mine is going to run on rocks and trails so, Is that a rock racer? a Racer-Crawler combo??? Lol... I am a newbie!!!

First off, Welcome to the forum.

Here is a great link, that covers a lot. It pretty much covers everything for different styles of driving.

Thanks Wade, I have looked through it and I think I'm going to run a 27T motor, maybe the Axial kit until I understand more???

Up to now, my RCing has been nitro planes, cars and boats and I'm building a twin Brushless boat now...

I want to run this thing through water and mud on trails and play on rocks too so I think this spec is a safe compromise??? :???:

So, The kit is in and I've built the axles last night but....
The instructions call for a 3 X 8mm screw to be used for the truss on top of the axle... Problem is that there are no 3 X 8's?? Called the shop and they are sending them out to me... Other that that, I'm liking the kit so far! :)

Off topic but, tell me about the boat!! I had almost $2500 saved plus the tax return I'm getting to build a twin BL catamaran, BUT we're moving into a new place in two weeks so the money has now been diverted to a new living room, a 60" tv, and a surround sound system. What are you building??

Hi John,
I'm almost done on a HPR C-5009 bulletproof version.
It has twin TP motors running on 5s/5000mAh each and should be good for hi 90's maybe 100???
Good luck with the move buddy!

Hi folks.
My Tekin T-35 HD keeps eating its rotor and brushes.
Any tips???

Maybe just a bad motor, I'd do a good cleaning and make sure there isn't something in the motor. I know it won't help your problem but I've have three Tekin 35T in service for over a year with no problems. Good luck.

Thanks. I am actually on hols and dont have any tools to strip it.
It does seem to move ok but just no movement under power. The day before it was ripping round a grassy field with no problem??

Ok, so I picked up some tools and it's not all doom!
I do feel a little stupid but it was the brushes! They are down to almost nothing! The springs are all the way down too...
I think I might try one run in the woods but I think I'll be carrying it out!
When I get back off holiday, I'll look into getting a new comm and SOME more brushes. Either that or a new motor plus spare parts...

Right, The problem with the motor is sorted now!... I just got a new motor and a set of brushes so I can rebuild the old one and keep that as a back-up motor...

Now I have a new question.... or two...

I am planning on lowering my Wraith, how much do people do this by? I was thinking an inch or so???

Also, what shocks to use? my crappy TopCad units came apart on the trail and I lost a spring and lower spring cup...
I'm also looking at building an alloy KOH style frame ala BGR... let the welding commence!

Hi Folks...

Ok, My Wraith has been running great on my regular trails but I am taking on a mountain challenge...

The challenge is to ascend mount Snowdon here in the UK!
Here's a link to YouTube showing the course we plan on taking...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSGgQhHP7zg

My question in this...

We are expecting the course to take upto 8hrs... I get about 2 hrs out of a 4000mAh 3s battery, I guess I could just get a few more packs but Would I be better off changing my set-up?

Can anyone suggest a set-up for such a trip?
