New wraith, inconsistent throttle

I am new to rc, atleast it has been a long time. I picked up a wraith rtr and got it all hooked up and running. But the throttle is jumpy and doesn't always respond or it seems to lose connection and stop. Is this normal? It also doesn't like to respond to anything less than 1/2- full throttle. Any insight is much appreciated.

It is a bone stock wraith, just pulled it from the box this afternoon. I am running it with an onyx 8.4 v 4200mAh NiMH battery

It should have the ae-5 esc. Make sure the little plug is not in the lipo position on it. It has a low voltage cutoff there. With the nimh it'll drain down further.

If that's not it the ESC could be dead. There's been some lack of QC on the recent batches of those ESCs. I've had two die. An older one is still kicking, though.

If it is in fact a bad esc, would it be worth while to try and get a replacement from axial, or just upgrade it, and if so what would you recommend?

You might try calibrating it and rebinding it. I think it has s auto calibration tho. But yes chech the pin locations lipo and drag brake. Also turn the wheels and see if you have any binding.

I appear to have fixed it, I guess I must have gotten an old stock wraith because it has the ae-2 esc. I picked up a castlelink and reprogrammed everything and turn the lipo cut-off off and now it is flawless. I appreciate all the help
