New Spider

No pics or links?

It is odd that GMade is releasing the Spider because they already sold a chassis with that name back in 2004 according to this article.

I do like that Gmade typically releases these things as kits, my much preferred format. The building of the two Gmade kits I have assembled was enjoyable, but the end product has not been my favorite. That said, i still look forward to more details.

I really liked the military I built but I gave it to my brother.
Sorry about no pic or link.
My computer and I were not getting along. Hopefully we are now.

Love my 5 Gmade rigs. This is definitely on my radar.

I love my two Sawbacks as well! People, most famously Harley Designs, bash GMade to no end. I have absolutely beat on my two Sawbacks for years and have only bent or broken leaf spings. Sure, they aren't the most capable rigs, but they are on leaf springs. And they do have some silly features like wheels on the skid plate which are easily remedied by removing those.

No worries. "thumbsup" You know I had to give you a ribbing for that!

Jato, nice to hear another who decided to give the brand a shot, with positive feedback. I love my Gmade rigs. They were quite “different” to build but lots of fun to build. Barely modded my GS02 Komodo Double Cab is one of my tip top performers out of my currently 16 crawlers. Looking forward to the new release!

I like the HD44 inspired axles with the tilted pumpkins. These are portal axles though.

The Gs02f BOM I recently built has the straight variant of the axle. I have to agree, they are nice looking axles.

I find the motor sits uncomfortably high on the gs02f. I know it's more forward, but I generally prefer such weight to be lower down on the chassis.

I never have had the original gs02 setup, would be curious to compare the performance of the two

I admittedly have a lot of GMade rigs.

I have the original GS02, and I actually liked it a lot. The main thing was to get the updated transmission housing to prevent gear separation when using high power. The big thing for me was that there were no options for overdrive. When the Element Sendero came out, I started driving the BOM less and less.

The GS02F does have the overdrive, but like you said, has that motor up front and high. I haven't even built it yet however. It's still sitting in the box since the Buffalo was first released. I do plan to get around to it though.

Agreed. The motor is too high like on the SCX10 III. I also much prefer it lower and a little more rearward.

As some will remember, I am a huge fan of my GMade GS01 Sawbacks with leaf springs. Leaf springs forever! Those rigs have been rock solid for me other than bending leaf springs from my abuse. I have no idea how guys are always ruining those trucks.

Anyway, GMade released more photos and a video of this Spider. There's also a "Launch Event Date" of January 15th - January 31.

They are calling it a GS02F, which I just realized, so it appears to be an existing chassis with portal axles and a new body. Others know more about this truck than me though as I do not have any variant of the GS02.

Here is the official video. It's a good video, except for that terrible and repetitive music, and the truck looks fun.

This YouTube channel has multiple videos of the Spider on the rocks.

It needs inner fenders for the rear, but besides that I think it looks pretty good!

Anyone with a GS02/GS02F truck could probably make their own high trail version just by adding the portals from this kit. The axle housings look the same.

It should be interesting to compare the performance of the two Gs02 setups. I would expect the forward raised motor to help the straight climbs but imagine the side-hilling could be a nightmare.

It would have been cool to see gmade swap out the 2 speed option for a dig unit on the Spider. Perhaps down the road they might.

On the military that I gave to my brother. I cut 1 coil off of each shock spring. That helped the truck a lot for my driving style.
I hope they are upgrading the diff gear. I stripped 1 before I gave it to my bro. When I ordered the truck I ordered 2 extra gears and an extra set of axles just in case. Oh yeah I ran their 10mm hexes also.

I like the body. Might have to buy one or two before Jeeps slaps their pp and makes them change it.
