I've been out of the hobby for a little bit. I'm looking for a new charger to replace my MRC 969 and some lipo batteries. I've done some searching and reading and I think I kind of understand lipos and chargers with balance boards and using LVD for ECS that don't have, etc. I just need some opinions.

My current batteries are the NiMH that came with my sons traxxas grave digger 3000mah, two 5000mah NiMH 8 cell batteries and one 4500mah 7 cell battery.

My cars include:

Clod with traxxas evx2 and two 13t brushed motors I do have the titans I can put back in. Can I run the exv2 with one lipo battery with the titan motors?

Traxxas grave digger with a xl-5 and the 12t stock traxxas motor. Can I run a lipo in this? which one?

I also have a old super blackfoot with a novak ESC, can I run lipos in this?

Plus a few other old tamiyas, bruiser, sand scorcher lunch box that I would like to dust off. Should I just run NiMH in these? THe sand scorcher might get a traxxas xl-5 and traxxas 12t too, or is this to much?

The chargers I was looking at are the traxxas ez peak plus the 6A one and the thunder AC6. My charging goals are run time and fun, I don't race, all back yard running. I would also like easy to use.

Thoughts and suggestions?

I recommend googling, downloading and reading the manuals for those escs to see about minimum motor turn and lipo setup/compatibility. If it can take the volts but isn't rated for lipo or has no lvc (low voltage cutoff) then you can get a separate cutoff or alarm to protect your batteries. Evx2 with two low-turn motors likely needs 2 batteries or else a lipo with a high c rating and lots of mah.

Get an AC6 and you'll never look back. Does it all and even a dumb monkey like me uses it with no hassle. There's a reason everybody has one!

Thanks for the replies, I am leaning towards the AC6 it seems popular and you can't go wrong for the price. I might order it this weekend, I need a charger to at least charge the NiMH batteries I have now.

Looks like there is a AC680 for a few bucks more, any reason I shouldn't get this instead of the AC6?

I just ordered the thunder AC680 for $56 shipped. I'm going to charge all of my NiMH packs and use these for a while before I go to lipos.

When I do go lipo should I just run two 2S pack in my clod with the evx2 and titans or is there a way to run one lipo with the jumper on the evx2 and save the weight?

You can run a single 2s with a jumper in your Clod. Try it on double 2s and see how you like that too.

A buddy of mine gave me two 2s 4000mah lipo packs and I ordered two low voltage alarms and a few traxxas connectors.

I have two 19t (not 13t) brushed motors in it now and plan to run one lipo with the jumper and see how it is. Then I will change to the two titans and run both batteries. Again looking for fun and run times, it doesn't need to be a missle.

Can't wait to get everything and try it.
