Quarry Creeper
I got them in last weekend but wanted to fully run them through their paces before I did a review on them. I have ran a total of 4 stock Nimh packs and 5 Lipo packs through them so they should be fairly broke in by now. First of looks. They look awesome. Very clean and nicely made. No real loose edges from the molding process or imperfections. Little larger than the rok lox and rock crushers by about 2-3 mm and just a hair wider as well. Now for performance. I tested them on 2 different sets of rims as well as multiple surfaces. First I used the stock losi rims with BWD large hole weights on front and back. The bead on them is thick enough then when I tightened down all of the screws to hold the bead rings on it held the tire firmly. Drove it on a large concrete pile where mixers dump clean out the extra after a pour and they performed extremely well. The side walls are firm and had enough bite on the edge to grab and get traction on just about any climb. I went from there to a large sand pile on the backside and drove around in it as well. In the sand it performed like alot of u thought it would. If you barely throttle it then it glides right over the top and does well. It had no problems going up small inclines in the sand either. Now when I throttled down hard it would throw sand and the moment it stopped going forward it would dig holes quick. We left there and drove it on some slick river rock with a mix of sandstone. This is where it came alive. As soon as the tires hit it had traction. Very little spin on these types of surface. There were times I throttled to hard and it went squirrely. That is how I ripped the side mirrors and rear bumper off. Then I got me new BWD vertex rims in and it was a totally different driving experience. The rims sealed so tightly to the bead that they act like real tires and have a little bounce. Drove back over all of these same stuff and they ran the same on all the terrain except the sand. They glided over the sand like it was nothing. When going hard throttle on lipo it would throw rooster tails of grit and was super fun to drive. Had a little more bounce when on the river rock but that actually helped on a few of the inclines and ledges. Side hilling is quite nice as well. Both runs of the different rims they stayed rigid and no fold overs of the sidewall. The only thing I didnt really care for was when on the rocks when you need your sidewall to flex some so it can get a good bite they didn't want to wrap like they should. Now that I have ran a few packs though them this has gone away a good bit.Over all I am quite pleased with the looks and the performance of them. Not to mention the free Mickey Thompson stickers that look will look good on just about any rig.
