Hey all :) I got this used XR10 with Novak m2 dig esc, 20kg savox servo, vanquish gear housing, 2x 55t terraclaw motors.

And I am wondering where you guys buy your upgrades and what upgrades is really needed?

I have had scale crawlers earlier (scx10 and wraith) And i can find a ton of upgrades and parts for those.
But when i search for the XR10 not that much comes up.

After looking in this forum it really seems like the comp crawler is much more technical to upgrade then the scx10.

After reading alot in here it seems like there are alot of custom parts beeing made and so on...

So im not really sure where to start with this truck.. Any newbie guides?

You could check out my "Just got a new old XR10" sort of thread here and see all the things I learned and did. Yes upgrading an XR10 is not as obvious as bolting on stuff from eBay...there's a lot to getting all the potential out of it. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axia...ghost-dog-cantilever-chassis.html#post4791280

First off the Axial chassis is a joke. You will need to design and build one or get one from someone who has.

Second the Axial shocks need a lot of fiddling to make them work right so look into that.

Third both axles need to be beefed and modded to last any time at all or you will rip through gear sets on a weekly basis.

4th mod the crap out of the front axle to get 70 degrees of steering and all the weight up front so it can hook up right.

And then you need to learn how to drive a dual ESC truck.

So much to learn...but once you get your head wrapped around it you will have one heck of a competent rock crawler.

The stock XR works pretty well out of the box but there are a few things you may want to do to first off.

The stock bearings in the gear case are junk. Replace them and if possible find a big bearing gear case because the stock ones are just to small.

The stock gears are weak so upgrading them is highly recommended. Also search for the screw mod for the rear axle it helps a lot and replacing the small bearing under the link mounts with a bushing fixes a weak point.

Some people have good luck with the stock shocks some don't. There's info here on setting them up or you can go with a set of big bores.

The stock chassis isn't the best but if setup correctly it works pretty well. There are several threads in the XR section that have good setups for the stock chassis.

The gears and cases need the most attention in regards to durability. After that it's mostly performance upgrades. If you have any more questions just ask.
