Micro Chop saw and table saw

I was at harbor freight the other day, and came across two neat little tools that be perfect for the hobby shop arsenal, sadly though, even though it was tempting, i didn't walk out of the store with them...but i'm sure many of you won't be able to resist (if you don't have $70 don't click on the links below, i'd hate to see some one go into debt with their cc)

I have the little chop saw, works well on brake line but not too good on solid rod. I would suggest it, great by for the money.

I just gave mine away.. Quality is top notch really I abused the hell out of it and it still kept working.. the saw blade will not cut steel very many times, light aluminum yes.. I swapped out the blade to a fiber disk(3" I think) and it worked great for quite awhile.. power is on the low side when you start going threw steel..

for the money I would get a 6" chop saw. I picked this one up on sale and its a 100 times more machine with out really a much larger foot print.. Getting one of these is why I gave the little cut off saw away..

I owned both of these. The chop saw works fine for wood and plastic. As stated, the blade doesn't last long on steel, if that's your plan replace the blade with a fiber disc as stated by Sloppy. Pretty decent overall, just didn't work for me, as I was mainly looking to cut steel rod.

I bought the same 6" to replace it, and have used the piss out of it. Still working great.

The table saw on the other hand should be avoided. The quality on that one is horrible. The blade had more than an 1/8" of side to side play. Which by the way is the armature inside the motor moving, as it's direct drive. So there was no way at all to get an accurate cut of any form.

I replaced it with an older Dremel model 580 4" table saw I found on ebay. 1,000,000X better! Micro Mark now makes a mini table saw that is more affordable in most cases than the Dremel are going for. Proxxon of course makes the most bad ass mini table saw, but they are $pendy!

I took my chop saw back, even after switching to a abrasive blade...it wasnt up to snuff by my standards. Tools should work for you,not against you.

Forgot about this thread. I bought the 6" mini-chop saw after seeing this thread. Couldn't pass up a Harbor Freight trip/deal.

Yet to use it.

I do not have the chop saw but will before I start cutting anything again soon. I do/did however have the table saw and I never even got a chance to use it. I tried to change out the blade and thing was stripped from the factory. I also can see how getting angles exact would be next to impossible with it.

I have both, chop saw works great for me.....I have not used the table saw yet, but mine doesn't seem to have any play.

Best part was, the lady gave me a coupon at the register, so I walked out with both units and extra blades for both for under $60...
