i have just bought a losi nightcrawler and love it but its like my real jeep and wheelin it, i want more haha. so far i have had trouble finding what i should do or what upgrades would be a good idea. thanks for the advice
Hello- it all depends in what you want to do with it. I bought one 4 months ago and sort of going through the same thing. One of the best things I did was weight the wheels. I went to the tire place I always deal with for my car tires and they gave me 6 strips of stick on weights that they use for balancing rims for free. The stock tire foams are really really hard so you can cut them down and cross cut them but the best thing to do is buy memory foam from your LHS. They are usually fairly inexpensive. The factory electronics from Losi is great out of the box and you can use 2S Lipo's but the one thing I would change there is the steering servo as it is a little weak... well a lot weak actually which you will find out pretty quick. So get a high torque servo and a BEC. The Nightcrawler with wheel weights will really help your center of gravity. From there it is really up to you... you can get a used (or new) DIG from a comp crawler, replace the esc/motor with a Novak Goat system (or your choice), Comp crawler suspension etc but you have to be careful. You don't want to go too crazy because you could just get a LCC and put some of your nightcrawler gear it in to have a DIG and 4WS =)

what do you mean cross cut the foam? im new to rc stuff ask me about full size ill know most of that stuff haha. the rc stuff is fun though at least when you roll it you dont end up in the er haha
Some good advice so far. The stock steering servo is definitely too weak. You'll want one that is at least 200oz or more. You'll also need a BEC for the new servo. Another good upgrade is better tires and foams, such as Sedonas or Rovers and some Crawler Innovations foams. Weighting the wheels is another must do mod, about 6oz in each front and 3oz in each rear. The Traxxas Titan 550 motor is a good upgrade as well since they are only about $25. Won't gain any wheel speed but will give you more torque.
Sorry guys - i should have been a little more specific on that - because the stock foams are so hardyou can cut 1/4 inch - 1/2 inch in diameter off of each tire foam and then do a crossways patter back and fourth like an x across the top off the tire foams all the way around down about another 1/2 to 3/4 inch but not through the foams completely. This will allow the hard form to contour to the terrain you are crawling over a little better... but for the time invested if you have the money just buy memory foam. If you are strapped for cash I can probably do one for you and take some pics to give you an idea.

ditch the lower links as well, they will start flexing after a while of running, i made my new ones, but you could pick up lcc ones as well. the uppers don't have this problem since they're molded around steel rod. the best thing you can do with the nightcrawler i've found is to relocate everything as low as possible, and weighting the wheels, both help keep the rig planted. other than that, keep the axles full of grease and run it.
I had a losi comp crawler. Want with the Eritrex MOA conversion. The best thing I ever did. Then I went and sold it XR10 on my work bench now. You have a good crawler, but moa is way nice to do to these losi's."thumbsup"
