Locking the wheely king diffs - sand!!!

...You'll be hard pressed to find a failure story about a set of manufactured diff lockers. They are cheap, easy to install and, best of all, they work - what more could you ask for? "thumbsup"
+1. And you can keep the internals of the diff nicely greased and packed away in a sealed plastic bag, for if you should ever want to unlock them again... no mess, no fuss.

I use RCGuy.com lockers. Work like a charm :)

My biggest worry with using a powdered substance would be it escaping if you pull the dog bones out. I wouldn't want even a few grains of sand leaking into the diff housing on the axle, it'd grind the ring and pinion gears down really fast. Flour would get into the grease on the diff pinion/ring and gum the thing up. Really, neither is a great answer.

heres a diff locker problem story the ones i bought dont work with the "heavy duty" final gearset hpi makes so i wasted some money i have a rear locker with the stock gear or hardend gear that wont allow me to use locker:evil: i could run out and buy other lockers but:flipoff:. did you guys see the one piece final gear set all metal u can compleatly eliminate needing lockers and its alot heavier then the plastic stock diff

I am using a steel epoxy in mine (similar to JB Weld). Works OK, but if I could, I would take it out and go back to the silicone ear plugs. That worked for a good tight limited slip and still let me steer. Of course that isn't the way to go if you just want to crawl though.

Ah, but that is not a problem with the lockers, themselves, but rather a parts incompatibility issue. So it doesn't really stand as a argument against using lockers if you are using the stock gear.

Its pretty cool to see the different ways people find to lock diffs. I used JB weld and haven't had any problems, but then again my WK is strictly a crawler.
