Locking and unlocking diff?

Has anyone done this to a scale axle? It would be cool to be able to lock and unlock the diff from the remote. I saw a video on youtube. A guy had an axial scx10 and he could lock and unlock the diff from the remote and also go from 2x4 to 4x4 from the remote. I saw you can have a lsd or an open diff on an axial scx10 axle but that is permanent which I don't want.

Is there a video of how to do this or a thread about this?

Thanks"thumbsup"

Yeah I think there's a thread from that guy on here somewhere. However the problem is that it only unlocked one axle, so the other is powered, which IMO behaves poorly, worse than a normal open diff. Creating a true selectable locker/open diff on this scale would be quite intricate and expensive and probably not as strong as it would need to be.

The Venom Creeper came with a locking dif. Had no use for it on a comp rig so I disabled it. I never used it so I don't know if it worked. I would check in that section.

RC4WD made an axle with a locking diff. It was called Renegade. You might find a set somewhere.

The RC4WD Armageddon truck has locking diffs but the axles seem to be discontinued.

Hay guys thanks for the responses. Do you guys think the traxxas summit diff could fit in an axial scx10 axle?

No. Look for Venom Creeper axles. Almost the same size as the SCX10's with selectsable lockers.

They would have to found in the classifieds or online somewhere as they do not make them anymore. They weren't really that popular and most people locked them in the locked position.

I had Venom Creeper and remote locked diffs was really the only reason why i bought the damn thing.

Do not even consider those axles. They are crap. In every possible way.
Remote lock i got never working properly, manually it worked just fine, but thats it.

Remote lock was meant to work with wire. Yes, WIRE. It was supposed to operate with small size servo and the other end at the diff locker.
When locked, it worked quite fine, as the diff locked when the wire was pulled. But when you wanted open diff, the wire had to push and it had small spring tensioned helper, but it was crap.

It looks like this:

Just believe me, forget those Venom axles and get something else.

They weren't that bad. As long as you didn't overpower them they would last. As far as looking elsewhere, I think thats what he's asking in the first place. What else is there? I don't really see a need not to have locked axles. With under and overdrive gears you get plenty of steering.
